Its too easy to mislead the dumb American public in many cases, that is why I've said for years we need professional jurors..all it takes is one out of 12 to waste thousands of man hours, hundreds of thousands of dollars on a trial is one dumb hayseed that hears a " hey, cops have a tough job..the suspect turned and had a shiny metallic object. Could have been mistaken for a weapon". That nonsense would never play with professional jurors. This case is open n closed guilty as hell of murder, not manslaughter.
Any cop with a gun must have a personal video recording device in operation at all times, failure to do so means suspended from duty. This way there's little to question.

This bastard is in the dock only because someone ELSE caught the whole thing on video. He'd still be in a uniform if not for that... coincidence.

The Whole system relies on there being a gullibility factor built into juries. It's how political and insider cases are sometimes handled (Tamir). The feds seem to get a kick out of trying to manipulate juries

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/29/us/charleston-walter-scott-michael-slager-trial.html?_r=0

Slager, the North Charleston police officer who shot and killed Walter L. Scott during a traffic stop and foot pursuit, ended nearly 20 months of silence and told a jury that he had been consumed by “total fear” in the moments before he opened fire on April 4, 2015.

“I see him with a Taser in his hand as I see him spinning around,” Mr. Slager, 35, said as he described the fatal encounter with Mr. Scott, 50. “That’s the only thing I see: that Taser in his hand.”

Later in the trial, this event comes to light:

Not long after the shooting, Mr. Slager dropped his Taser next to Mr. Scott’s body, a decision he could not easily explain on Tuesday, but one that prosecutors view as proof that he was trying to plant evidence to cover up a murder.

The prosecutor used that action by Slater as proof of intent to cover up his murder.

Anyone know if it came out in testimony what exactly the cop was in fear of? That seems to be what he's resting his case on. From that video it certainly doesn't look like there's anything to fear.
there was a scuffle before the video started and the cop thought he was trying to take his taser.

"he just wouldn't stop" or something to that effect.

well, he did stop. he ran away, and he was executed. doesn't matter what happened before.

When growing up my father always told me to not run from the police because they can and most likely will shot at you, my grandfather also said the same thing. Idk I was raised in a shit part of town where cops would shoot a lot of the time at people who ran. I can't believe he cuffed the man that is some serious bull shit. It is a shame how we are policed.

white man shoots black man who is running away in the back, jury deadlocked.

will end in acquittal, because america.

just wanted to get some time for us to bitch and moan about this before the neo-nazis start celebrating.
Why does it matter that he was black? cops murder people. it's fucked up.

I'm really not trying to argue with you. I just feel like the real problem here is the out of control Para military cops. when we push it as a black thing or blm it is devisive.
It's government against civilians plain and simple.

He killed that guy because he was pissed. it's fucked up.

Bingo! I'm treated very differently when it's realized that I'm related to police in seeing my last name.

The mood shifts completely during road stop and I'm white female.

They don't treat whites any different..they are just as threatening.

We just act different..don't speak unless spoken to, no sudden moves and ASK if you can go to the glove box or bag to retrieve your documents.

Does the clip show him planting the taser on the guy too? That was the best part!
And yet we have a hung jury..

Some people are just not meant for jury pool due to lack of critical thinking skill..I call it the Ben Carson effect.

Donald Trump CAN walk down 5th Ave and shoot someone nothing would happen..is spot on!

This IS what we've become.
