Bad info Killa, added a month to a grow I ran last year.My Indicas have a 6 -8 flower period and it took every bit of 11 weeks rather than the usual 8.
sounds like a bad ideal.at 12/12 the plants know its time to flower. a shorter day would give them less energy to use growing and may actually increase flowering time. seems like giving them a brighter light may lower flowering time. but each strain is different so you will just have to try it with the strain your growing
BS - "killa"! Shit tons
of evidence to the contrary!
Doing such for the last week or 2 on a 7 week plant - will add NO time to the finish time!
In fact, doing so from the flip,,,,,will
shorten the finish time!
Plenty of experiments have been done with reduced lights on times down to even 6/18! Plants will finish
FASTER but as you reduce past that 10/14,,,your yield reduces at increased amounts the more you reduce lighting times....
Its not in place of hps its in addition to hps led or cmh There was a thread in the led section far red thread i cant find it this min. Continue to read about the emerson effect and far red 730 nm you are manipulating the phytochrome response in the plant changing pr and pfr so they can go to sleep faster. so you can run 14 on and 10 off I have not played with it yet but I will be in the next 2 or 3 months after I get a few other upgrades done first.
Been there, done that......NOT worth the added cost to benefit ratio! The price of the 10 or 20 watt 730nm band LED built to your cause AND the included rise in cost to run the HPS lighting another 14 hrs a week. Does NOT supply an amount of yield increase
worth spending the money on the project!
I run 11/13 from the flip. Stronger and less stressy plants are one benefit not mentioned by others.
In running High sativia's. I'll start at 13/11 and drop 15 min a week till down to 12/12 and let it ride for 2 weeks, then drop 15min a week till 11/13. As the end gets closer. If I have a sativa strain, that likes to go long and not express well,,,,I'll drop it to 10/14 for the last 2 weeks and maybe a bit more if need be....
