Major Yellowing of lower leaves and spots on upper leaves

Growing hydro with store bought water, pH last at 6. GH nutes on an agressive grow regiment (ratios found on their website), 430watt hps 4 feet from plant. 29 days since germination. 2 plants in bucket. Dont have a TDS/EC measuring device.

I thought the leaves were changing colour because i was misting with non-pHed water that i believed was burning the leaves.

I now think its magnesium deficiency and am adding epsom salt (1 tsp/gal) Would like some experienced advice as this is my first indoor grow. Also with 2 plants how should i adjust the nute ratios if at all?

looks like you have lockout, i would guess your ph is off after you add food. your mix might be a tad strong

the ph is 5.6. I pH after adding nutes. I know that heat is a problem. Been hovering aroung 28 degrees celcius (82.4 F) at max

WOW, That looks just like what my plant is doing that I started a thread about......I'll stand by for some more ideas on what should be done.

If you want to test and see if it's an Mg deficiency the best way is to make a foilar spray with epsom salt and water (2% epsom salt concentration), if it is an Mg deficiency you'll see them come back quickly, you want to make sure that Mg isn't just being locked out by some other nutrient, like potassium or calcium and adding excess Mg to the nutrient solution when it isn't the problem will lock out other nutrients too. I can't really tell from the picture but if the veins of the leaves remain green it could be a Mg problem.

That said, try a foliar spray.

i'll try the foliar spray now and try and take a couple of good pics right after the HID turns off at night-time under incadescent light.

I started the epsom salt foliar spray last night and see no improvement.
To be honest i dont understand what to look for and am not certain about the salt concentration in my spray, i dont have a scale to weigh the salt if i am taking the water to weigh 1g/ cubic cm(mL). How long is it suppose to take for the spots to dissappear/reappear?

my basic question : is it necessary to add epsom salt to a DWC hydro grow? because i am only addding GH Grow, Micro, Bloom and pH up/down

Also i have more pics taken without the sodium light.

i think you have eather a nitrogen or potassium deficiency try an give them a little more of eather an see what happens

i believe my problem is i have 2 plants going in one bucket. I remember reading that one bucket could support two plants so i tried it out for sexing purposes.

The plants are competing for nutrients and I am not supplying enough required for regular growth.

Get a EC/TDS/PPM meter and work out what the correct level of dissolved salts is, you can't grow hydro without a EC meter I'm afraid - because you'll just be 'guessing' at what the correct nutrient dosages is.

There's little or no point in growing hydro if you're not precisely controlling both ph and nutrient feeds/EC/TDS levels.

The problem with your plant is nutrient feed strengths and ph level.

Using my new tds meter i found the ppm to be around 1100 when it should have been around 700 (for transition to bloom).

I swear not having a meter or using standardized nutes would probably be a sure fired formula for fuck up. So closest root to sanity would be to right one of the conditions. ie Nutes or pH. I would vote for the meter.

1st off, never add nutriens if you think that they might be the problem. Ph for hydro is from 5.5 - 5.8 and stick to that. Get a EC meter, its a "must have" in hydroponics growing.As well as digital Ph meter. Pictures dont help much but it looks like Ph problems, which could lead to a nutrient lockout. Did you try flushing your plants? That could help you And if your using GH (grow,micro,bloom) you could just do the "Lucas Formula;
