When I harvest my comfrey I take all the leaves and fold them in half, then I take scissors and "trim" them into thin shavings.
The comfrey almost sends up new leaves as fast as you cut them.
I like to add either finished compost or worm castings along with it as a topdress.

But due to the even nitrogen to cellulose ratio the comfrey literally melts and disappears in like a week or two

Yup. Thatz pretty much what i do, except i blitz them in my old blender for a milisecond more faster break down (but yeah...shit is gone pretty fast whatever your method. :) ) Put down my blitzed comfrey on top of soil (or whatevers beneath it) ...then layer of worm castings as final layer ..BAM!!!....repeat every week (Thursdays to be exact :) )

I also put in compost bin, worm bin and have standing water where i just throw bitz into....So versatile! :D

The jar one is new to me though... :)

Anyone else with ideas on comfrey?

comfrey is almost a must have
i call it land-kelp, full of almost everything you need, and every week like what you do?
you're giving perfect slow release amounts of all the macros and a lot of the micros, great shit to do, never seeing any defs at all that way

whats not to love?

Another good thing is dandelion, it doesn't break down as fast (maybe if you did puree, it like you do)
but roots and all, especially the roots

But the comfrey I grow a LOT of, hell I even transplanted the invasive kind into an empty field
heres some cool pics of some of my flowering comfrey, nevermind the blueberry bushes and the jasmine it's on top (the jasmine dries out too fast so i topdressed the whole damn comfrey-plant on top)

I was thinking about doing something similar. You can rent vacant lots for insanely cheap in my city (I got over two acres for 200 bucks a year) as long as it's for agriculture purposes. I already rent one for composting, Im about to rent some more to expand the composting op. And I was considering just turning one of the lots into a giant comfrey field.

fuck yea man, while you're at it, get some stingin nettles too, those two alone is almost all you need, especially if you are making some pimp-compost.

Haha pimp compost wouldn't be a bad marketing angle. Do you do any fertilizing for your comfrey crops?

Because then they can sell you a fourth product that compensates for what the other two do to fuck up the first one. If you follow the nutes by the directions you will have a garden for sure. Cannabis can grow pretty well no matter how much we try to fuck it up.

But moving forward if you want the benefits and aesthetics of organic gardening i would recommend learning a little bit more about building a healthy soil to meet your plants need instead of bottled fertilizers.

I grow mine...it really is like a weed...dies down a bit in winter by comes back every year. Easy to grow...like the easiest thing ever!!!

No need to fertilize it. Its roots will go down 15 feet or more (obliviously not in pots...unless you got some big as pots!!!) Thatz the beauty of it though...it basically is a 'land miner' takes up all the nutrients it can

If you can grow that in a vacant lot....consider powdering it aswell to get to the masses! NICE! :)

hah, yea, it loves to eat itself, I topdress comfrey into the comfrey.
also I do throw my "pimp-compost" on allll the plants I have

Happy to help. Just let me know a question and happy to answer it. A tip? Keep humidity below above 50% during veg and under 50% during flower. Advice? Sounds like you are doing Sea of Green with one gallon pots...stack em close and flip em to 12/12 when about a foot tall.
