are there any premade cob system's that are actually worth it? i hear a lot about just build it yourself but are there any that actually some what decent?

Tasty, Johnson, or GrowMau5. I have three Tasty T1 fixtures, providing the same PPFD as a 600w HPS in a 4x2 for 274w. Not just decent, it's exactly what you'll need. Just depends on your scale.

I wouldn't get Amare. They're kind of overpriced, and from what I see, they use old line CXA2530 emitters. All the ones I listed use Cree top bin CXB3590s or 7th Gen Vero29Cs which are currently outperforming current gen CXB3590s.

If you get a COB just make sure it's current gen stuff, or make sure the price is significantly lower.
Not trying to talk trash, but I wouldn't want anyone paying New Tech price for older gen products. Amare's SolarECLIPSE™ 450+UVB costs like, $1k-$1.5k. $800-$1000 for the 350. $700-800 for the 250. 3 Tasty T1s (about 274w, putting out the power of a 600w HPS in a 54x54) are ~$600 ($205 each) and are up to date, as well as produce better light. Tasty T3s are $515. T4s, $670. All have current gen emitters and drivers.

get a timber grow light kit. already wired and connected. All you have to do is mount it. cheaper than most lights.

You're using old information. Amare uses both 3070 and 3590 +newest gen cree 5w diodes, copper heat sinks...
AND their prices are very attractive. Hard to DIY for less

I'm using their information, straight from their site. They do not list anything using CXB3590s. I did see the ones including the Cree XP-G3 diodes, but it still says they use older COBs.
You're getting defensive. I said I wasn't talking shit. Chill.
What are their new, attractive prices? I just looked their units up and read them straight from where I came across them.
Also never said your lights were inferior, just that there are better options, and there are. And by better, I mean "current emitters that put out more light" and "doesn't cost 1000+ dollars for 450 watts."

Are 3070s not just smaller chips using same tech? Thought it was similar to like a vero29 vs vero18.
Either way, enjoy the cree cobs while they still exist.

CXA3070s are older models with less refinements in power and such. Anare lists then as putting out 4000-6000 lumens? Not that lumens are important to plants, but by comparison, one of my CXB3590s puts out 12,000.
The latest one I ordered uses a 7th Gen Vero29C and 1670mA driver. My others use a Cree CXB3590 and 2150mA driver each. Both 3500k. The Crees are CD/Top bin.

But why are you comparing a 3070 to a 3590. Same as comparing a Vero18 to a Vero29. The 3590 and 29 are bigger chips, so of course they are going to put out way more lumens.

No, you're not getting what I mean. The 3070 is an older model. It isn't just that one's 27mm and the other is 34mm, they are different generations. And my point is, obviously the CXB 3590s would be a better choice based on both size and generation. So Amare charges you more for a smallwr, more outdated emitter set when you can get a better one for cheaper.
Ok, but its also a smaller model... Same as 18 vs 29.
I really dont know why people are still on cree chips so much with the competition that is out there though..
Also, lets not get bogged down in whether or not these premade cobs are "best" or not. Im sure all the premade cobs listed here have been tested enough to prove that there are at absolute minimum "somewhat decent" like the OP asked...
If he wants the latest and greatest tech in his light, why not just go the actual DIY route?
