@CobKits I don't want to blow up anyone else's thread, so I'll ask this on mine!

I've been looking into cobs, tons of questions, but the main one is there any complete DIY kits, or do they all require additional parts/supplies from other sources?

Also, put some of the trim in a slow cooker with some oil and let it sit on low for a few hours.

Then made some brownie/peanut butter cookie combo edibles. Nice slow body high. Real relaxing

Have some more trim gonna use to make some wax.

Timber Grow lights are full kits.. just need to build a frame out of aluminum angle.. simple build...
So the aluminum frame is included? Or has to be bought seperately? If bought seperately, are there any recommended dimensions to optimize the light placement?
I try to look at all the COB threads on here, then they start getting super technical and I get lost when I'm still stuck on where to get the frame and what watt is the best haha

Tasty sells prefab units that he designs and assembles. All high-powered, high-amperage (1650-2150mA) fixtures with quality emitters, properly tested Efficiency, PPF and PPFD, solid assembly, and using all top bin emitters and quality parts. Cree CXB3590s and Vero29Cs. Meanwell Drivers. I use two of his T1-2100 fixtures (CXB3590 3500k top bin 36v driven at 2150mA) which he just switched out in favor of the T1-V196 which uses a Vero29C instead of a Cree CXB3590, which delivers a surprisingly slightly higher photon flux using 1650mA instead of a 2150mA driver.

@Rahz is your dude.

I got about the first quarter of that. Haha but all that sounds good. I'm just not highly knowledgeable on all the specs of them.
Just starting my research so I can make an informed decision later. And I like to be prepared sooner than later lol.

It's a bit more to comprehend than going straight to watts, but you'll get it. Voltage x Amperage = wattage. Ohm's Law, I believe. So 36v x 2.15A = 77.4w, and I'm getting ~850-900 in a 2x2. Using 2 89w T1-2100 units (extra wattage accounts for fan and everything besides the emitter) I can do 2, MAYBE 3 closet-large or 4-5 small plants in a closet, achieving PPFD similar to 400-600w of HPS for only 178 total watts. Probably more, accounting for overlap. ~850-900 accounts for just one of my single-emitter units, depending on the distance/height of my light.

Talk with Dan at Timber... he is very good at helping with confusion.. They also sell frames.. have you watched the Growmau5 you tube videos?

My only concern with Timber, Northern, and GrowMau5, all of whom I respect, is they tend to use 3070s and drive at lower amperage. I have never used those slightly older emitters or lower amps, and only have direct experience with Tasty. I don't suspect their products are bad or don't work as well, it's more lack of experience with the older stuff and using COBs at lower amps. I would probably check out Johnson or GrowMau5, out of preference. GrowMau5 is a local user, and his videos are insightful for anyone with no electrical background regarding all aspects of COBs.

I watched a bit of one. Just getting back to my research today. Had some eventful past few days trying to stop the root rot from spreading to everything and the premature harvest. Tryin to find a reliable place to purchase from, then figure out what light specs i need

Thanks man! Appreciate the help! I've used HID before, and am just getting into LEDs. I'm enjoying the lower electricity bill and heat so far. So looking on expanding my knowledge and collection.

Timber uses top bin cxb3590 cobs driven up to 2100.. mine are driven at 1400
