Question about shifting the light period

Would it mess a lot with the plants if i shift the light time a little bit every day or every couple of days?
One or two minutes wouldn't do much i guess.
But what about like 10 minutes or more every day?


edit: here is an example of what i mean.

day 1: lights on at 6:00 , off at 0:00
day2: on at 6:05 ,off at 0:05
day 3: on at 6:10, off at 0:10

why would you ask? it's best to keep it 24 on during veg and 12/12 for flowering. What stage is your grow in?

Deviations in time can cause herming. Investing in a timer can save a lot of headaches

some people reduce their lighting times by a bit each day near the end of flowering

do you want a longer or shorter day ?

or is the start time not convenient for you or want the lights to shut off earlier ?

People leave plants in the dark for 1 or 2 days before going into flower

Normally a one time lighting timer change is fine more so during veg, once in bloom people try not to rock the boat as much but as long as the lights are off for over 12 hours I can`t see how much damage you could do

just stay over 14/18 hours to keep in veg and stay under 14/12 hours to stay in bloom... obviously depends on the set up and the strains your running

I would like to to my next grow as stealth as possible.
So i thought shifting my light cycle a little bit everyday might reduce the risk of my energy provider seeing suspicious power consumption.
This is my second grow.
And i want to make it somewhat automatic with my raspberry pi that controls the air flow as well as my lights and heat etc..
My pi would be perfect for setting up such a lighting period.
And i dont mean that i want to shorten or increase the light time.
I want to shift it a bit so it doesnt go on on the exact time every day.

Hi how are you, I run extra fans and leave lights on I normally wouldnt, add to that the tv being on all day lol, stuff like that can help you pad your electric bill for awhile and then when your lights and equipment come on later, not much change.

Best thing to do in that case is to run your lights at night only. I set a daily alarm for 9 am/pm. Lights on at 9 pm and back off a 9 am. Power costs less during off-peak hours, ie, at night

I'd like to add, as a bonus, if you use HPS and route the air exhaust out of the grow room/tent into your living quarters, it doubles as a heat source during the winter, which in turn, lowers your billed usage on a central unit. Re-purposing the heat from the grow during the winter and lowering the thermostat equals lower energy bill. I love two for ones

i actually did that with my last grow iirc.(lol my brain)
And yeah they probably don't care especially since im only using 400w max bc im growing with cxb 3590 leds and i dont want that much yield.
I'm just curious what the effect on the plants would be and what amount of shifting they would tolerate without a big negative impact

a normal house heater unit with a plug on it in the UK used 3kw

and it`s common to see people use one per room here sometimes

so unless your drawing over 3kw your not even using what some people use to heat one room

So really power draw don`t mean shit, its more for bigger grows or sometimes along with the smell it can be something that might be used to convince a jury that you were growing for a lot longer than you say or whatever

but yeah they can`t notice what you are using and power meters are known to be 10x wrong on useage quite often, a lot of people have their power meters sent off and tested sometimes the power company has overbilled them but a stupid amount.

It`s more the heat sig of a hps lamp as an infrared cam can see them quite easy from what a fire service worker said on here ages ago... but if someones spaying on your grow with an infrared cam you've already lost.......

The extra heat and how easy hps`s are to use can be a real advantage but how hot the element gets is the one thing that puts many people off of using them I guess

Just put a 500w heater on a random timer that`ll confuse the fuck out of the power company but it may cost you more money

maybe a 2nd 400w hps running at random times would up yield and confuse them

but seriously don`t go giving yourself a bigger power bill for nothing dude
