I am tired of paying $18 a bag for 2 cu feet. These gangsters in Humboldt and Oregon are always trying to keep a brother down.
Anyone knw any soil that is less expensive? Tired of paying extortion to Humbolt/OR Mafia?

Making your own soil is much cheaper.
Ever try Coco?Cheap in larger amounts.

I love Coco, once I switched from Coco from Soil things were just so much easier. Not having to deal with soaked Soil or the idea of over watering. Plus the growth was great.
I veg I was feeding about every 3 days and in flower was once a day as they were drinking alot.
I would highly suggest a DTW Coco if possible.

You can always buy a yard of good soil at a landscape supply. And mix your own. Personally I don't have the room to store 40 5 gallon buckets, but I did figure it out it would come out about a quarter the price to do it that way

I feel coco/perlite is cheaper in the long run because it can be refreshed, time and time again, for years.... If you somehow have a salt build up, it flushes well.... it's the next best thing to rdwc... my rdwc plants only do about 20-25% better.... When heat's a problem, it's my number one choice..

For Simplicity Sake, I just use Promix BX, and Sun Bulb Orchid Fertilizer.
They have both Veg/Flowering Formulas... NO Urea Nitrogen, and only the highest quality chemiacls, that are most easily absorbed by the plant.
They are also Endorsed by the American Orchid Society, have been in business for almost 60 years !!!
And also contains ALL Micros....Including Magnesium. Very complete, and Bioavailable.
The Promix BX also has 2 different sources of Lime, and Beneficial Bacteria. Nothing else needed.
I also have done organic many times.
For that I use with the Promix BX
Peruvian Seabird Guano/ Veg/Flower.
Azomite
Extra Lime/Hydrated.
Kelp
Bio Activator
With the Sunbulb... My Standard use is...
Veg x 2 tsp x 1 tsp Flowering Formulas Combined. Of course Less or even use 1 tsp Flower per 5 gallons water for early seedlings.
I feed at each watering.
When plants are taking full Veg Fert though, the Basic is 2 tsp Veg x 1 tsp Flower formulas.
In Flowering.. I Reverse it
2 tsp x Flower x 1 tsp Veg.
After Mid Bloom, Drop the 1 x tsp Veg
