A friend of a friend blew up his kitchen doing this. I think it was more of a flash than an explosion or sustained fire. He was more upset about loosing all the weed than about blowing up his kitchen and he still does it.

Well let's be serious for a moment. I'm very interested in trying this out.
I could probably do it outside though at night time.
We're talking trim so how much butane would I be using?
I'm researching this now. It looks like I'm just blasting butane down a pvc pipe and filtering what comes out. I place the shit that comes out in a glass bakeware and set it inside a bigger container with hot water
Then when the shit burns off ijust vac it for awhile to get the butane out all the way.
So if I'm outside the butane shouldn't be too dangerous right?
And if the op is inside then it's just a matter of safely venting the butane out.
How could it be so hard? Legal places are doing it inside. It must just be a matter of proper equipment and cost???

Don't use pvc it leeches into the oil.. glass or stainless steel.. 1 can per oz of weed.. it is a simple process...
The problem with indoors is butane is heavier than air and it drops to the floor so its not easy to vent..
the legal places use a closed loop system so no butane escapes and is reusable...
to purge it right you need a vacuum chamber and pump.... if you're gonna do it .. do it right and be careful.. stay outside!!!

I take it I can buy a tube and a vacuum setup on ebay?
I'll just do it outside at night time. I can move the bakeware into the house after I blast.

The plan is not a good one for sure and it would be better to have 2 fans drawing air out of the tent to maintain negative pressure in there so no butane escapes the tent into the house.
Inline fans use magnetic induction to drive the blades and do not create sparks like your regular electric motor drive ones so no worries there. Not to mention as long as there is a steady and strong flow of air through the tent the butane wouldn't be able to concentrate to the percentage needed to form an explosive mixture. Where you have problems like that it's because there wasn't enough air exchange and the butane pools on the floor where a tiny spark from your shoe as you shuffle around ignites that mix. High humidity helps prevent static sparks but it can still happen.
I've known guys cooking off a pot of ISO on the stove had had flash fires when sparks from the hood fan over the stove ignites the ISO fumes once they get a hard boil going and the fume concentration reaches ignition levels. Scary but not going to take the roof off your house. Toss a lid on the burning pot to snuff out the flames and thank your lucky stars it wasn't worse. I worked as a chemist in a hazardous waste facility and had hundreds of hours of safety training and the guys that caused all the explosions and fires there had BAs and MAs and were fresh out of uni. Where I only had a lowly diploma but almost 20 years of industrial work experience.
All that being said it's still not a good idea to mess with flammables of any kind in an enclosed space. I do mine out in the carport unless I set up my DIY system to distill the butane into my freezer so I can reuse it right away and get a lot more mileage out of each can of 9x filtered butane. Would love to get a cheap closed loop system so the butane could be saved long term for reuse. An Alladin thermos in the deep freeze sure don't work.

After you blast you can move it inside. Use warm not hot water. U dont really want to get ur mixture hot itll start cooking off terps.
Outside is fine. if you can do it under some kind of structure so you dont get dust pollen and debris in your dish from outside that would be best.

I always let the butane purge til most of it's gone before taking it inside.. but we have 4 x 4 oz tubes and shoot 16 cans at a time.. so just being safe.. Amazon and eBay..

Don't blast indoors without a closed loop period. You will blow up you might get away with it a couple times but I promise it will go up. I make hash and teach people to grow for a living lol trust me I've worked for a huge concentrate company I have studied this shit I can make any type of hash besides co2 and pho because I don't have a 100k for the machines but ya. Just don't.blast inside if you can't blast outside when open blasting this isn't meant for u. I've blown up twice in my life and have been very lucky learned even a cell phone static electricity while outdoors can set some shit up lol don't do it

Btw think I make some hash? Lol just ordered a closed loop that holds 5 lbs at a time. The dark one is really amber when pressed out but that's why machine trim sucks for the most part. All in the 2nd pic are qp's and the top in first is 2oz and bottom a qp both live resin and bottom left on 2nd pic is live resin
