Funny, You post a cut from the one Van Halen album I have (which tells you I'm old and I thought it was worth paying money for).
Actually bought it for the acoustic album title cut but came to appreciate the dead straight rock-roll of the band and then there was Eddie, of course.
His chops were putting him in the league of Zappa, Di Meola, Howe, Vai, etc. easy.
The guy plays some good guitar but is as much a cartoon character as Dumph.

Pre 1980 & all that plastic Bose garbage every home had a decent to all out assault stereo system,now if an american home has a music system its some farty little piece of Bose shit that's 50 watts @1ohm with 10%THD lol.
Younger people come to my houses & freak out seeing HiFi systems in every living area,fuck ,I couldn't
go a day without music,I've even got a Marshall all tube rig in the bedroom just in case & nobody else I know gives a shit about home music systems .

To answer your question though, the PC is never near the HiFi and I'll admit my music ingestion is about 75% digital and 25% analog.
But even with rice crispy accompaniment, vinyl just has warmth and depth that I/O can't capture.

I've got more jack converters than I want to think about and have whole house media server (if you want to listen to music through the TV and a Bravia doesn't do bad) but I just won't do it since I'm afraid the vinyl might get touched every month vs. every day if I do.

That's my basement. It's always cooler and the grow is down plus I can blast music all night. Upstairs is more normal lol.. I think I also like my basement because being a stoner as a kid.. spent a lot of time in friends basements growing up lol
