240 volt question/help

I need to run 3 meanwells off one 240 volt plug. I am curious if I make a cord that plugs into my helios 7 (240 volt plug) and put a normal 120 volt 3 prong socket/plug on the other end and plug a normal 120 volt power strip (so run the power strip at 240 volt). Then I can plug the power cords that came with the meanwells (normal computer type cables) into the power strip. I would be pulling no more than about 5 amps total through the power strip.

I know this would not be code I am sure but is it safe? I am no electrician obviously but want to know what you guys think, those that know electrical stuff better than me.

thanks!

lol, its the 185 1400 pheno of meanwell :) I will do something else, forget the 120 volt power strip idea.. I found a 240 volt power strip on amazon that will work out nicely.

The meanwell drivers don't care if you're running 120v or 240v they will work fine either way and auto accept the input voltages.

They don't care what plug you put on the end.

The issue is safety. You're creating a situation where you could plug in other 120V items into a 240V socket... which is bad news. At best you'll remember and nothing dangerous will happen. At worst you could cause a fire/electrocute someone as they unplug a fried device.

TLDR: It will work but it is dangerous. The sockets are different for your safety.

yeah, they would be on the ceiling and I am the only one who will be in there.. but forget it, its not worth it.. I will just get a proper 240 volt strip.
