Fox farm ocean forest

I have used fox farm ocean forest before had great results however I had cal issues after 2 weeks should I add some dolomite lime to the soil before I start the grow if so how much per cubic feet...I kno ff ocean forest n doesn't NEED. to add anything right away but my next question do any of u advanced growers suggest happy frog over ocean forest or should I add any other nature soil amendment to ocean forest?

Take a nice 1/2 cup of Dolo to every bag you buy and mix it in well!

OF has well known Ca and Mg problems.

Or just use some Cal-Mg supplement when you start feeding.

I ad cal mag to my watering , domolite lime takes to long to break down and you will still have cal mag issues
I have donewater only grow s with ffof before and they came out well, lime really helps organic soils if you can let it percolate for a few months

4+yrs and never seen a cal/mag issue on 15 strains. 1 cup powdered dolomite lime per bag of OF. I water only until 1 week before flip.

This kind of amending is dependent on our individual water, nutes and strains. I never add anything to it. If I see the pre cursers to deficiency I fertilize lightly with a complete nute. No more deficiencies. I use medium hard well water.

thre is a good chance you have cal mag in your water from the faucet?

Every grower should know the alkalinity of their water before any other decisions in my opinion.

Or at least the total ppm of salts it contains.

I just dumped out a soil container that grew a plant for five months over the summer, I put a layer of domolite lime in the container at mid level, upon dumping out the soil the lime layer was just now breaking down, the lime was gummy felling so after five months it was know becoming usable for the plants

I have a 35gal tote I mix my soil in. 2 bags in, 2 cups powdered dolomite lime, 20% perlite, mix mix mix mix.

Powdered and mixed in thoroughly it takes about a week to start activating and buffering soil. How it breaks down from there has many factors.

Like how often you water and is there biological activity breaking it down for example.

Pro mix for instance says to use regular tap water to help buffer for the first week. Then if needed acidify to the correct ph.
