If I went for two CREE's what temperatures would you suggest to give me a good compromise between veg and bloom. I'll source the heat sink and driver locally as they will be the high ticket items in postage terms - UK based.

Looking at http://www.cutter.com.au/products.php?cat=Grow+Light+Kits which one - Got the money waiting to drop now :)

May even go for the CXB359-LHA36VKIT 4 cree kit - £132 shipped then I'd have to add cooling (large passive aluminum bar) and a driver... Driver can be source either in the UK or Euro market to keep postage rates down... What temperatures to go for though!

1.16mm is the metric conv for 18 awg

I think (not sure yet) awg 18 is equal to .75 mm^2 wire in metric sistem(more or less...awg 18 should be .8ish mm^2 but metric wire sistem doses not have that size...well,at least in my country...we have .5mm^2/.75mm^2/1.5mm^2/2.5mm^2/4mm^2...)
Ideal can use up to .75 mm^2 ,bjb .5 mm^2

Thank you. Now my problem seems to be that anything under 1.5mm2 is impossible to source here. If anyone knows a link for some 18awg/.75mm that ships everywhere, I'd be happy. Or rather, happier. With taxes I'm already $1300+ into this and I've yet to find alu for the build. Still positive, though.

Sheeit. So I've got a dozen cxb3590s with accessories itching their way here. Then, on Friday night I discover that anything less than 1.5mm2 is impossible to get in the land. It seems like I just hit the wall on this project. I'm stuffed.

i think you are refering to aussie land ? if so ask cutter to send you some wire

No, I'm in the backwaters of Europe. Looking at eBay now, but it's like a month shipping...

Edit: so far, the earliest delivery date is October 3-11. Do you guys know if there's a way to pay for quicker shipping on eBay?

Thats stranded wire and its a bitch to insert into ideal cob holders.but if your planningto solder each cob then it will work fine.for that type wire you should be able to find it at any auto parts store.
Also alot of guys use thermostat wire and i would say if your under 200w its probably fine but over 200 i would find the right stuff.

Okay, so it's a bitch with stranded wires, but does it work? Seriously short on a lot of things you guys take for granted, unfortunately.

Edit: is it possible to cut some of the strands off heavier gauge wire to fit ideal holder? Noob q, I assume, but since the juice clearly can flow through 18awg it seems intuitive that it could flow through the bottleneck.

Can't even find thermostat wire, but I don't really know how to google it since I don't know what it's supposed to do...

its a major pain in the ass with stranded. i even tried tinning the wire to make it solid and then its too big for those holders.yes it can work if your very patient and you make sure none of the strands end up touching other stuff like the heatsinks.this is the shit you want.mil spec and it looks like it would ship next week

Ahh, wouldn't want any touching the heatsinks now would we, lol. Thank you so much, just what the doctor ordered. Guess a hundred feet will be enough for this project.

Wouldn't something like 40amp electrical cabling do - like a cooker is connected with? That can be bought at your local DIY store?
