My first grow

Hi all.
So finally got sick of paying top dollar for my buds and im having a crack at growing my own.
Ive never grown before but done alot of surfing on the net and made up a shopping list then hit up my local hydro store .
I brought...
1x 400watt HPS kit with vege and flower bulbs
1x axial fan
1x digital thermometer/hydrometer
1x roll of silver paper looking stuff and a roll of silver tape
1x fan speed controller
4 meters Thermal ducting
1 x 600x1800x400 closet

And all the other bits like clone gell,superthrive,canna terra vega nutrients,digital timer,surge protector etc.

I ordered some seeds from herbies but in the mean time a workmate gave me a couple of clones.

My temp with the lights on seems to be sitting around 24.8 but tonights the first night with the lights on so im hoping my fan is big enough to maintain that temp.

Yea mate i just checked them and theyre 25.2 so just heading to the gym and ill be checking again when i get home lol.we are about to head into our summer here in new zealand so i may need to buy a bigger fan as the current ones already at full capacity

Sweet mate.hey how long would i run just straight water before i start using nutients as im using a vegetable potting mix so id imagine theres enough nute's in there for a couple weeks?
Got back from the gym and my temp at the tips of my plants is 33°c so i think ill lift the light a bit and go buy a small clip fan 2moro to try disperse some of that heat sitting over the plants otherwise ill have to upgrade to this bad boyScreenshot_20160913-223118-1.jpg

Im not sure in regard to ur soil..would depend on so many factors.

Im about a month into flowering using soil and havent had to add any nutes (except Magnesium).
I will be starting to feed them something in the next day or so as my soil would be running low I think,

Ok ill just keep watering every couple of days and see how i go.ive just watered them today and added in a drop of superthrive,aparently its good shit ive heard not to use it any more than twice maximum unless your plants are stressed.i was getting constant 29-30°temps so went out today and brought a centrifugal and WOW what a difference.set for summer now lol.good luck with your flowering mate✌

Yeah back that light up to about 24 inches at least. New clones do not need a lot of light at all and having it that close is gonna do more harm than good. As they get bigger you can gradually lower it to about 12 inches if you can keep temps down. Looks good though brother

Hey growman thanks heaps ill raise them up a bit.i thought if i had the light too high it would premote stretching?

I wouldnt be to worried about stretching just yet.

I would recommend topping at just above the 2nd true node once you have 3-5 nodes. This will give you 4 main colas rather than the one. With the space ur working with I gather u would prefer a short and bushy plant? If so this will help you achieve that. Look into a SCROG to (even if u are not planning on doing one in this grow)

Sweet mate thankyou very much.i wasnt sure what path i was going to take yet because i know you can bend them and tie them down to get more colas also.will definately be having a read.its all playing around to see what works best i guess.im already considering building a bigger box lol
