Any caregivers selling excess flower to dispensaries?

I will be a designated grower for just 1 patient come October.

I've done a ton of reading into the subject but am having a hard time figuring out the process for transferring excess flower to dispensaries to sell. Does anyone have experience here?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that only growers can sell excess flower to medical dispensaries (or recreational with the small cap license and a local that doesn't ban said license.) The only thing being a caregiver "gives" you is the ability to carry 1.5 lbs of pot on you and to buy tax free cannabis for your patient, you're not even allowed to have more than the 4 recreational plants. Being a grower gives you the ability to sell excess flower, carry up to 72 lbs (per patient you grow for outdoor, 36 for indoor growers) and to grow up to 6 mature plants (18 immature) for the patient.

I misused "caregiver", I am actually the grower! I thought caregiver was also the one growing for the patient.

Maybe I'm a little mixed up..

Ahhhhh yeah, you want to be listed as grower. There are (up to) three cards per patient: patient, caregiver (usually patient's spouse or roommate to protect them from possession limits), and grower. Grower and patient can be the same people (if so then there's no need for record keeping) but for a grower that is not the patient then they need to keep monthly(I think) records about each plant and each harvested amount (in theory they can also be inspected, but likely with just one patient that wouldn't happen.) The grower can sell excess to(medical) dispensaries but they have to log each amount and all that online.

Hope that helps, I'm a self grower so I can't help with the forms and all of that but there should be several people on here who can.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. The patient is a roomate, but I will be the one growing.

You can but only till January 1st after that you can't

You also need signed permission from your patient to do it as well
Hm, not doubting that, but I'm curious of where you found that info of selling to dispensaries ending Jan 1.

Have any idea of what a grower will then do with excess after Jan 1?

I have personally emailed the OHA/OLCC i'll copy their response let me find it

After January 1st medical growers will only be allowed to transfer excess to purely-medical dispensaries. This means no retail/recreational stores, or “co-locations” that will sell to both medical patients and recreational customers.

Also note that selling excess to even medical dispensaries is going to become more complicated before then, because all marijuana sold to dispensaries starting October 1, 2016 will have to comply with the new testing and labelling requirements described here:

https://public.health.oregon.gov/DiseasesConditions/ChronicDisease/MedicalMarijuanaProgram/documents/rules/333-007-Cannabis-Testing.pdf

Here is our general rules/regulations page with a lot of good information and helpful links:

volatile one is right, likely if you refuse to get a micro license and still want to legally sell your product to a disp you'd be forced to drive out to the few areas that have allowed medical but banned recreational. On the bright side, that would mean those areas could be drowning in supply so will cease getting screwed on price vs pdx. ;)

Most places that are purely medical grow for themselves likely you won't get good prices if they would even buy from you this coming from contacting almost all the only medical places in oregon

Sorry, by "cease getting screwed on price vs pdx" I mean those of us stuck in the boonies will be able to buy herb close to the price pdx and other large supply places see (at the moment the cheapest place in my area sells an ounce for $300+. The gardeners will slowly be squeezed to death (which I'm torn on, but in the end, I think it's a good thing as there is no reason cannabis should cost what it does here...)

I could see only medical places getting cheaper rec i don't think it will for a good while

Oregon thought that by legalizing weed the black market would stop or drop dramatically. With the rules they now have in place I highly doubt that will happen.
