6000 Watt Sealed Room

Hey guys,

I am setting up another grow after taking down my 4k watt grow down after moving. I have a few questions I'm having trouble with this round.

I want to put 2 more lights in this room for a 6000 watt room. I've never done a sealed room with Co2 before and I thought now is the time.

This room will be a 7' x 11' room I am building in a garage. Is this too small for 6000 watts?

I will be using Hydrofarm air cooled hoods with a carbon filter hanging outside the room, coming into the room with 6" ducting to a split, cooling all 6 lights and then coming out. I have a 24,000 BTU mini split system for cooling and I'm going to purchase a dehumidifier. So to break it down:

This is in Northern Califronia for a licensed nonprofit delivery service.

- 7 x 11 room
- Organic soil (FFOF)
- 6000 watts (probably dimmed down to 3600 watts at first)
- 24,000 watt BTU mini split system
- Large carbon filter/fan
- 6" duct
- Air cooled hoods

So my questions are:

Is this room big enough for 6000 watts? Or should I just keep it at 6 x 600 watts? Or even just 4000 watts?
How many plants could I fit in there without it being a jungle I can't get into?
I've never done a sealed room before. After watering, how would the dehumidifier work with the AC?
Is it worth sealing this room to have the Co2 or should I wait till I have a bigger location?

I use an 8ftx12ft with 4k idk about 6 I mean I could prob fit it how tall are your ceilings?

They're Hydrofarm air cooled wide hoods. I think they're 18-20 inches wide.

They're kind of winged with the glass tube in them. I have others like yours with the glass bottom.

Ok ya you could prob get 6. I mean 4 would prob fill same amount of light with those hoods. Mine do a 4x5 footprint or 4x4 which would work perfect for what your trying to do but I kinda like those cool tubes with bat wings can't lie

I'm in an 8x12x7, with 3x600. There's barely any room except to run 2 rows of 3.

That deheuy is going to spit out hot hot heat when running. Mine was 110*, which made my ac work even harder. I'm sealed co2, but run a recirculating lung/flower room

yeah , my advice is . only use 4000 watts perfect . any more this space pointless just making heat . and this ac it way to big for 6000 or 4000 watts . if they are air cooled . air cooled 4000 watts . i suggest a 10000 btu ac unit . largest size would be 12500 perfect if your using a co2 burner . they get hot . i know about space and lighting . i put a thousand of watts per square foot . actually a 2 foot by 1 . and hardly notice much of a difference if i spread them out . a thousand watts per 3 foot

Forsure. Thanks. I think I might have to stick with the 4000 watts then. I've never done Co2 but it's exciting. So once I water (soil) the water is going to stay in there and build up some humidity. At this point do I turn the dehumidifier on and the AC off?

I have two 10k BTU ac on 4k watts ducted but I only have 7ft ceilings my canopy sits at 77 during lights on

Maxing 1K's at a 4x4 foot print gives plenty enough lighting.....6 in your space is going to be a pain.

I would simply set 3 of them in-line along the 11ft wall. Hang them out to give a 5+ft footprint in the 7ft direction and leave the remaining space as an access path, along the other 11ft wall. You'll want that access!


This is one of mine right after the building was built. (got pressed to transfer plants early - still finishing at the time)
The portable is gone as central ac is now in place.
This is a 12 x 24 room and it's a 10K room. Packing in lighting would press the heat. I like air to circulate well.
The hoods have 20% more light - The airflow is not straight through - reflector covers the normal 6" hole.
I have NO lighting issue's as far as intensity.....

I don't run a dehumidifier the AC does it for me my rh lights on 35% lights off 45%. Keep your room low 70's if you can I prefer 71° myself

Nice! Thanks. I wish I had more room to work with. I'll have to look at it once the walls are put up to fully decide a 4k or 6k. Is that 4 plants under each light in that pic?

i put my dehumidifier on and set it to 45 % . . it knows when to turn on and off . my ac will not run that often i run my room 83f with the co2 . i just crank the ac to 63 last 10 days of flower bring out the colors .

Long about 40-50 days cutting - seeds take longer!.....aero-cloner has a 4 bulb T5 - (2ft) Ist solo area has a cpl of 6 bulb (these two sets run deep blue to "normal" veg bulbs)T5's - then to 8 bulb T5's with a broader spectral spread. and they hit the flip point under a 1KMH. This is all in the middle room. There is another bloom on the far side of that.

Those were mostly seeds from breeding program strains on the left. On the right were some mothers going into bloom for "selfing" for S1 seeds (The first 4) and the other 4 were Blueberry (Muffin cuts) to finish for the shop.

You could cram 6 lights in there, but only if you plan on using every square inch as grow space, a jungle to trek through. Otherwise, 4 is enough.

I would go with a 36000 BTU mini split. Not that a smaller unit couldn't do the job, just that a larger unit will do it with ease. The less the unit has to "struggle", the longer it will last you. "Cooling" is not the area to skimp on. Besides, if you later deide to add lights 5 and 6, you'll be better suited.

You might consider a light mover.
Your 4 moving lights would be much better than 6 stationary lights, would cost less electricity, produce less heat, eliminate shading, improve yeilds.
You might also consider 8" fan and ducting with 4 hoods with thousand watts in one line.
