Hello to all

I am very new to this and just invested in a small tent/light/fan setup and am planning to do an indoor grow, it will be my first plunge into this so after having had a bit of a browse on the forum you seem a friendly bunch with an absolute wealth of knowledge/experience behind you to. I am planning to do an indoor soil grow and have been recommended all grow as the soil medium but am still unsure about a good nutrient and have no decided wich seed to try for my first time, I saw a sensi/skunk hybrid that seemed not overly difficult and I have a basic grasp of light timings to get them into the flowering stage so I was going to skip the auto flowers and jump right in well with some feminised seeds anyway. I intend to use the KISS principle Keep It Simple Stupid as I am new and I don't want to overly complicate things to start off with as I need to learn pretty much everything, if anyone can recommend a good variety to start with I am all ears, but I don't want to start off by asking the same questions as 100's before me so I'll take some time to read what others have pit also just wanted to introduce myself is all...I was so tempted to use my real name by the way. Stupid Phil stupid..just kidding

Welcome and Happy Growing... there is a ton of info here, so read, learn and then ask.. I am sure it will all work out and I like your KISS approach.. Aside from RIU, there is a ton on google too.... but nothing like the witty banter you will get here...if you have not read this, http://www.growweedeasy.com/... its a decent read, but remember your KISS approach and sift through the loads of info and dont get bogged down by it... Cheers guys, yes I am definitely signed right up for a bit of witty banter anyway, I want to try to take the more natural approach soil/nutrients and I can see it would be easy to over-complicate things for myself but at this stage with a lot to learn basics first seems like the best plan to me. There are than many bloody nutes/additives promising to do so much reminds me of all the fuel additives you get for the car promising better MPG if you used the lot and worked out the benefits you would get such good MPG you wouldn't have to pit any petrol in the thing,...I've a strong feeling this is very much the same big bud..bigger bud..bloody huge bud!!! Haven't worked out how to build the tent yet hahaha

Nutes. Consider the Lucas Formula as well as other. It's simple and cheap. Lucasformula.com. Just for your consideration.

Welcome.
I'm new too but have grown outside for ten years, usually 3 to 6 plants of various strains. It's mostly a relaxing, rewarding, and challenging hobby. I get about a half years of free smoke and share with my homies. Starting with soil is a good choice I think. Starting with a great strain is smart too. My best beginner advice is to consider how big do you want the plant to get, and start it in that size container. 10 15 20 gallon pots really impact overall plant size in my experience. Have fun with it and enjoy those first drags of home grown!

Dr underground's Painkiller very easy to grow..

Soil mg root boost potting mix very good drainage without perlite and low npk feed on soil seedlings and clones love it....

can i suggest to you dyna gro for your nutes? it's a KISS approach of only 1 bottle, 2 if you want to really do things right. 2 bottles all through veg and bloom. Dyna Gro Foliage Pro and Dyna Gro Protekt - must have Foliage Pro and Protekt is the compliment for a silicon supplement (makes the plants sturdier, easier to bend, and more resistant to drought).

It's simple as this - 4 parts Foliage Pro to 1 part Protekt from veg to flower. that's it. It has all the macro and micro nutes in one bottle (foliage pro) with the perfect ratio of NPK for our beloved girls in containers.

Here are some pics of my four plants, two white lightening and two northern lights, they are getting flushed for a week before I crop them to be dried out and cured. Although I haven't posted very much I have used the forum and people's posts as an invaluable source of information and am incredibly grateful to have this as a resource at my disposal, my original idea was to grow in soil but I opted to use Cocoa Coire and went with the Canna range of nutrients but did use Ecothrive charge to enrich the growing medium upon the advice of a friend that has been a successful grower for many years now and I have made great use of the Canna thread on the forum also. So a big thank you to all that have contributed here especially those that took the time to respond to my posts/queries you have been a greater help than you will ever know...I'll be looking up curing now as it's my next learning curve.

What do you mean by flushed? If you mean just feeding with water, great. But if you mean flushing with loads of water, then don't. Its a terrible practice people give advice to do so.

Pouring loads of water into a pot just feeds them heavily as soil already has nutrients in it.

You'll learn in time, that in soil you don't actually need all these extra nutes, as its in the soil already. The best way Is to just keep potting up as they grow and then each time you pot up, they get new food to feed on.

Welcome and take as much time if not more on learning your harvest dry and cure phases it's where great crops can be made or lost ....very important GL

Sorry I thought I'd mentioned I ended up going the hydroponics route using cocoa coire and the Canna range of nutrients with one exeption I used Ecothrive Charge. I was all set for using all grow and bat guano upon the advice of one friend when another friend gave me two sacks of canna grow pro, some nutes, spare bulbs etc, if it weren't for this chap I'd of stuck with soil as was a little intimidated by the concept of hydraponics but it's been so interesting to learn the basics and I'm over the moon to have got a decent first crop...which has been flushed for a week snd is getting cut down today, so drying/curing are the next challange to face.

Sweet as. Hydro is awesome. I did coco years back, but moved back to soil and now I'm back in hydro, but doing rdwc. I will probably never go back. Its just so easy doing rdwc, so long as you have a good ppm and ph pen. :)
