Grams per watt

Hey guys, happy friday, I'm a little high at the moment and was having a discussion with my buddy.

We all want that GPW to be as high as possible, right? Right!

Most of the time when I hear people mention the weight they get from a grow it's an average of, say, 5 plants under a 600w gave 1lb giving you roughly .75gpw.

What I'm getting at here is...if you had one plant, veg'd 6 weeks under a 600w and get (round to even) 300 grams giving you a total .5 gpw that wouldn't be anything to brag about... But if you had 5 plants veg'd 6 weeks, each plant giving 300g totalling 1500g or 3.3lbs and 2.5gpw...

That seems crazy, but not unlikely. What do you guys think.

I'm pretty blitzed right now so I'm sorry if this is hella rambled and makes no sense lol.

So the equation is watts × veg time= x gpw
Im not even sure.

I mean veg obviously really effects weight...

I guess the question is in relation to light. If you have a 600w HPS and you really wanna hit that golden 1gpw with one plant...would it work the same for 5 plants

Because there are far too many variables to work out a consistent gram per watt value it's not very reliable...

I grow in 60cm x 60cm tent under 400w.- if I had 120cm x 120cm under 400w I'm positive I'd get a bigger yield.

But what if I added CO2, or better ventilation or changed my feeding regime - these will all impact your final yield....

you have stated above that 5 plants under 600w will get 1 pound or 454g
but 1 plant under 600w will get 300g, and if you multiply by 5 plants you will get 1500g, but those same 5 plants cannot occupy the same space - ie the sweet spot under the lamp with the most PAR, so 454g

I love to speculate and shit keeps your mind sharp! And then even to factor in strains and phenotypes.

300g for on plant? Decent

Ahhh yes, that is true. What if you moved them around. Everyday they rotate one way clockwise to keep them consistent.

No, much more ridiculous, it's watt's of light used vs harvested dry grams
so if you are usin a 1000 watt light you need to get 1000 grams of dry harvested buds to = 1 gpw
But you could never manage that with say an auto could you? I agree that there are way to many other variables.

I think all you can do is compare your own grows - make notes on your setup and measure your yield, then do the same on the next grow...

Ok, let's try again using all input.

****ALL HYPOTHETICAL****
Veg:

You are using all clones from the same mother for each "trial". All clones taken are 5-6". All vegged for 6 weeks under 400w MH. They remain in 5 gal Smart pots from 2 weeks on to finish in. Only topping

Flower:

5x5 area with one 600w HPS. Two fans across from each other for optimal air flow. 8" exhaust fan pulling through a cool hood. Rotating plants daily to maintain optimal coverage.

Would it be crazy in this situation to get close to 300g per plant under one 600w

***Edit: organic soil

Wtf are you blabbering about? The light can only cover a certain amount of space. Whether you fill it with one plant or 3
5 doesn't matter you'll still only get what the light is capable of producing.

@ttystikk just got a little over 32 ounces off one of his many plants under his 5400 watts of cobs. I said under it's a vert grow so not really under and I've been there but can't remember if it was 6 plants or 8
