About the acde not so well but it helps a bit I suppose, right now that hood isn't running because I've switched out to all 315s for the summer.Probably 4 months on my veg lamp
How is that AC/DE at evacuating heat vs a traditional air cooled reflector?
I mean, which setup would you say is contributing more heat to the grow area?
The Blue lamps will operate on any ballast that meets appropriate ANSI standard for the wattage.About the acde not so well but it helps a bit I suppose, right now that hood isn't running because I've switched out to all 315s for the summer.
I'd worry about early lamp failure with those blues on a high frequency ballast but maybe they'll be fine. It seems the hortilux page is in the middle of doing some changes but I thought sure I read on the page before that the platinum was the only ballast that the blues were certified to run on. I know some lamps are prone to failure due to acoustic resonance from the higher frequency ballasts.
Although this info may be outdated it covers what I'm talking about. And no I did not read all of it,

One of the obstacles in electronically bal-

Gold Ballasts operate to ANSI standard.
Excuse me brother dawg but maybe stick with the led, hydrofarm has nothing to do with the Hortilux Gold series ballast. As I've said all along I needed no confirmation from hydrofarm that the first phantom cmh were trash. And with hydrofarm track record with me I'll never buy another one of their ballasts. About the pissing match , I must have missed that because all I saw was discussion of a little hid lighting.Ah, my bad I see you were talking about two different issues and two different ballasts.Ok All I Said Was My Local Shop Had Some Troubles with the Hortilux Gold Ballast. Hydrofarm Confirm That Indeed That Their Were Some Bad Golds And The Problem Was Fixed. Didn't Mean To Start A Pissing Match
Now On To More Exciting News Yep The Grow Off Between New Tech vs Old School Is On Like Donkey Kong

This with the sunplix? Have you figured out what the problem is? I run mine boosted without a problem. Only problem I've seen with them is they can't take a direct hit from a lawn sprinkler I had inadvertently set up that sprayed into a window, unfortunately the ballast was soaked a bit and failed.Well this is the second day I have went to check on my veg room and found the lamp off. Might be the 350w setting, idk it's back to the 315w setting.
Excuse Me But Hydrofarm Does Distribute The Gold Ballast. So They Also Take Care Warranty Issues So They Would Know If Theirs A Problem. My bad again dawg, I can admit when I'm wrong., Hydrofarm do DISTRIBUTE one hortilux gold ballast, I just lost a little respect for hortilux .Excuse Me But Hydrofarm Does Distribute The Gold Ballast. Ya the Sunplix, I put it back on 315w no problems since. Might have to see about a replacement, but I never really cared for "boost" buttons on almost everything that has them. So long as it holds out I'll be happy, might be the bulb not liking the boost since I didn't have a problem with running it dimmedThis with the sunplix? Have you figured out what the problem is? I've changed my mind, sunplix blows, the first one that went bad was my fault but I had another one fail after 6 months use or so. It's not firing the lamp, It's trying but not quite doing it. I'll be going with solis tek if they have a ballast only option. These are UHF sine instead of the LFSW .Ya the Sunplix, I put it back on 315w no problems since. I have two SS lec 315 that have been nothing but rock solid so I would imagine you're right about sticking with genuine philips ballast, as for lamps I like the solis lamps . The only lamp I've had a problem with was philips 942 but they replaced that even though it was over a year old.Just stick with Philips cmh ballasts======Philips cmh bulb, easy and reliable combo
still ^^^ that's garbage and dangerous..........not talking about a Edison bulb here, ceramic halide arcs don't play niceI have two SS lec 315 that have been nothing but rock solid so I would imagine you're right about sticking with genuine philips ballast, as for lamps I like the solis lamps . I've been told that the issue is the mogul to pgz adapter and that I'll have to buy sunplix new improved adapter as a fix, I really disagree and see that gap as nothing more than a shock hazard but who puts a lamp in or takes it out with the juice still on. I sent photos of my hoods mogul base and what was a shadow they thought was a burn mark but the adapters and base I'm using show no sign of burn.

I could look it up but tell me, whats the specs/features with the nanolux? Are the lfsw of uhf sine wave? I'm really looking at those solis c1 but I don't want complete fixtures, I want a remote ballast that works for shit, I'm going to see how this pargrow does but for the price I would probably go with ceramic science since it appears at least the ballast housing is the same, the ceramic science version actually has a few more features than the pargrow. My Nanolux are holding up rock sold, only problem I have had with my Sunplix is if I run it on 350w, had it off 2x already so keeping it on 315w and no problems. We will see, I have good standing at my grow shop and have had no problems returning things so if it goes bad I'll jus exchange it.
