You can veg with an hps if you like.. It will not be needed untill like 15-20 days after sprout though, Dont forget to harden them off first.

Have you looked into the 12/12 from seed method? If you have, you would see it's benefits. Saves on energy, and it helps with the pheno hunt. Plants still get 3' tall, with some good sized buds.
Do your research before you speak up.

I'd be extremely careful using cat feces, they can be loaded with pathogens.

Oh no doubt, I only know cause I got a cat that likes to poop in my garden so I am always digging up this damn cats shit and removing it (its my neighbors cat).

for one the hps and mh combo them ballest are pure poo no offence man but i have had them piss out on me in 2 years were my jb ballest is hitting its 20 year birthday this week and still running hard chucking him a party this friday lol but from 12/12 from seed yea go for it just run hps all the way thru start high im talking about a meter and a half from the plants for the first 3 weeks then take it down to about 60cm 40cm for the rest of flower

How much time does it save? Is what I'm getting at. If I have for example my blue mystic I'm getting in. 7-9 flower period.

Still takes 7-9 to finish. Just less veg time possibly.

well it still takes a seed 30 days to mature and show pistils

Your lack of patients will be your biggest detriment to you. Now if you are located in north america, I would suggest you get an hps or mh setup.
Growing in soil will be the most forgiving medium for you to grow in.
Vegging for a few weeks would be better. If you are growing from bagseed or even purchased seed you might find something you like, if you don't have a mother plant or a clone.
All this time up until now you have been waiting. Don't rush it as a new grower and I guess read a few journals from newbies and see where they went wrong to avoid mistakes

Yeah looked through that 12/12 thread and I was impressed. Its that a few of the people i talked with that been growing for a long time laughed me out the door about asking that question but then again they done the same with talking about leds.

It's kinda hard to sift through speculation and subjective methods for facts. The seed wait has fudged the timing up a lil. But alas it is cooling off and I'm sanitary, have preventive pest control setup. I'm just ironing out my plans.
