It's not enough, at least not for the whole country. We already have $10 minimum wage in California and it is absolutely not enough to cover the cost of living in many/most parts of the state. In San Francisco, median rental cost for a 1 bedroom house is $3,560 per month. Working a $10 minimum wage, that would mean 89 hour weeks just to pay rent, assuming no other expenses. Even "cheap" parts of the state, like Fresno, you're looking at around $800 for a 1 bedroom, which means that if you're working 40 hour weeks, fully 50% of your monthly salary goes to rent before additional expenses. Then you got like electricity, gas, water, trash collection, tv, internet, etc, easily an additional $300-400/month. That leaves you around $400, about $13 a day, to divide up between food and whatever else you want/need to spend money on. And all that is assuming that you are only providing for yourself, and don't have any children which come with a whole set of expenses.I am 100% on board for a $10 an hour minimum wage. That is a realistic pay bump for minimum wage.
I find it ridiculous to go from 7(whatever) to 15, that is such a huge jump it will echo problems.
No self respecting goat would let him.You blow goats?
If you want to justify not raising the Federal minimum wage, you need to defend your position with logical arguments, not 'truthy' talking points from your masters at faux spews. You want me to quote the article you quoted? Scroll up to the top of the page. Do you often post things without reading them?
Realistically tho, is an extra 40 bucks a week going to make any difference? It's not enough, at least not for the whole country. If you were to live in a big city an extra $40 is a blessing it just might pay for for your daily commute to work...if you're lucky. In NY the subway fair will rise to $3, 1 way or pay your lunch.Realistically tho, is an extra 40 bucks a week going to make any difference?
Raise the proposed minimum wage an extra dollar to 11 and people are making 80 a week extra...Now that's some additional spending power.
Are you stupid? If you were to live in a big city an extra $40 is a blessing it just might pay for for your daily commute to work...if you're lucky. In NY the subway fair will rise to $3, 1 way or pay your lunch.
You must live in small town USA talking the way you do, city life is an everyday struggle (Rat race). $15 minimum wage is scraping by in ANY big city.
Just using basic math tells you that city life is a struggle, $11 bucks an hour is a whopping $22,880 before taxes a shit hole apartment can run you $1,200 @ month, that's $14,400 a year and that assumes you work a 40 hour work week. Most folks are currently making $9.75 @ hour working 35 hours $341.20 x 52 weeks another whopper of $17,740 before taxes and your rent is $14,400 @ year. You Republicans don't give a shit about the struggling families trying to make ends meet maybe if a living wage was paid you wouldn't have Eric Garner who was killed by Police in NYC (Staten Island) instead of being with his family, for selling "loosies" for extra cash.

How many times a day do you call anyone who disagrees with you a racist? You are extremely dishonest. Possibly retarded. Does someone pay you to post this nonsense?how many times per day do you say to someone "i'm not racist but..." ?
Eric Garner wasn't killed for selling loosies. He was killed for being a fat blob with a weak heart who wasn't paying NYC taxes on the orders of a Democrat mayor. If you were to live in a big city an extra $40 is a blessing it just might pay for for your daily commute to work...if you're lucky. Are you talking about Federal Minimum wage or local Minimum Wage?No "Mama huevo" your the fucking idiot here you're the type of scumbag asshole who bitches all day long living in your moms basement in Shitkickersville USA, about decent hard working folks who just want a living wage.
I did say $10@hr would do just fine in certain parts of the country but we're talking about city life. Keep with the program mama huevo!!

I merely pointed out his post about "saving" money didn't save any money. So I was doing exactly what you demand, showing his argument was NOT factual. You seemed to have failed your own "test"If you want to justify not raising the Federal minimum wage, you need to defend your position with logical arguments, not 'truthy' talking points from your masters at faux spews.
That's LOGICAL argument, based on FACTS, not 'feelings' or 'beliefs'. Yes, this is a test, sadly one most conservatives can't pass. Even those in my own family.
Spoken like a true racist devoid of any feelings for another human being, Eric was killed by a POS racist cop who administered an illegal choke hold.Eric Garner wasn't killed for selling loosies. He was killed for being a fat blob with a weak heart who wasn't paying NYC taxes on the orders of a Democrat mayor.
Let me make this as clear as can be. Yes the OP was referring to Federal minimum wage but clearly the conversation was about city minimum wage. Got it mama huevo! Are you talking about Federal Minimum wage or local Minimum Wage?
Because you're confused as fuck.
I want the Federal Minimum wage increased from $7.25 to about $11...
You're talking about local shit that has nothing to do with the Fed Minimum except that it has to match/exceed it.
You're so dumb, really really dumb.
Untrue talking points repeated ad nauseum in the belief that a lie told often enough becomes the truth. Garner died from a heart attack. Oh, heart attacks are racist. DeBlasio's high taxes are racist. Your sole response to anything is to scream "racist"Spoken like a true racist devoid of any feelings for another human being, Eric was killed by a POS racist cop who administered an illegal choke hold.
I support raising it to $15.Realistically tho, is an extra 40 bucks a week going to make any difference?

You can look at all of my post and see I don't throw the racist card into my conversations unless warranted, in reality the cop who killed E.G. Laughed afterwards.Untrue talking points repeated ad nauseum in the belief that a lie told often enough becomes the truth. Garner died from a heart attack. Oh, heart attacks are racist. Warranted? As in "Anyone who disagrees with me must be accused of racism"? So calling a rich, powerful, white woman a liar is racism? Bringing up some unrelated event in NYC isn't playing the racist card ? You are dishonest. You can look at all of my post and see I don't throw the racist card into my conversations unless warranted, in reality the cop who killed E.G. Laughed afterwards.
He may have had a weak heart, many folks do, but being put into an illegal choke hold caused the heart attack.
Seems anyone working for $10.00/hr would be wise to move out of SF.It's not enough, at least not for the whole country. LOL, "shift cost born" = Desired level of social standards....Basically, shift cost born by government now to private sector. And then use those "savings" to fund more giveaways? So no savings at all then?
