Curing question

My shit has been in jars for a week now and it still doesn't smell good when I pop them open is this normal?

Be patient.........I didnt cure right and it tastes kinda like a chemical turd

I think I'm curing right. It did get a little bit too dry probably around 58 59 percent

I dried 6 days and jarred. They were too wet so I laid them out on a table for one day then jarred again . Started to see mold on a little bit so I opened jars for five hours. After that the RH was down to 59 or so

I like to take at least a week to dry, if it's happening faster leave more fan leaves on, I've found the slower the dry the smoother the smoke, also if you have problems opening the jars as often as you should(I forget) give the shoebox method a try, a ton of old hippies that don't use internets swear by it and theve pulled out same damn fine smoke in a session or two......I did however just buy some corn on the cob, might try somethin different with this weekend's harvest lol

If I'm in the cure zone do i need to open the jars?

I don't know man. I'm reading a lot that weed will smell like that for 2 weeks or more into cure before it starts smelling dank.
I put them in wet but I had them out again 12 hours or so later and airing out on a table for 20 hours.

Then they went back n in jars and we're around 70 rh. I opened jars and had a fan blowing near them for 5 hours. I feel like i dried them a bit too much at this point . Maybe 58 rh or 59. So I've had them in the jars and it's staying around 59.

Another question. I look at the jars in the 600 watt light. This shouldn't hurt anything right? It's just a couple minutes to examine the buds for problems
