Runt/Mutant

Is that all this is, a mutant? Started out slower than others, and has stayed smaller, and now looks like this. Let it go or would you pull it? Im gonna watch it a while yet, curious what others would do though.

Sometimes runts of the litter turn out to be the best, depends on what you are wanting from it.... I would take her through and see what it turns out like... Could possibly be some of the best you ever had ;-)
 
the mutants ive had from seed have never produced decent weed, they just take up space, i would pull it and give your other plants a bit more room
 
Leave it a while,it may just be the first few leaves that are growing odd,leave it at least till the top growth come's into its own,Don't forget if you are like me then most of the bottom growth a taken of any how.
 
Should have put a poll up about her, if it is a her, but I am always interested in others opinions on this subject based upon experiences. Could be fun ;-)
 
I didnt even consider the poll, haha. Next time. It 'should' be a female - fem Critical Hog seed.

And it probably is stoned, haha. I know Ive heard smoke is bad for them.. but there isnt a much better time than chillin with a hooter as I look the garden over.

Thanks for replys - I can see both sides of the coin for sure. No sense wasting energy on something that wont produce. Im a pretty new grower tho, so be good experience to see what happens with it. Space isnt a huge concern, although wasted energy is expensive, no doubt about it.
 
Herbies - TH Critical Hog, fem. Out of 5, got 3 doing great, 1 doing good but having some slight issue with (weird coloring/fading/splotchy spots), and then this runt.

Good call man..... I realized after that I did water them heavier than I meant to when I up potted. Its the only out of 12 that is splotchy though, and they were all done the same. This mutant has been a mutant since it popped.. weird from the get go (not to suggest I didnt fuck it up worse, haha). Thanks for the advice man. I didnt know overwatering would do that - what is the overwatering doing to cause the fading color?

drowning your plant... lack of oxygen at the roots is killing it... the plant is burning up all the nutrients in existing matter to keep itself alive because oxygen plays a key role in it's processes.

Good thing you caught it in time.

Personally I don't think it caused the mutancy though... contributed maybe. At that level I hardly see it being that impactful, otherwise people would have mutants all the time, they certainly over water often enough.

I "over pot" all the time... but water very little/progressively. Water the plant, not the pot. One of my mottoes.

I appreciate the help. And you are right, does seem like if overwatering caused that thing, then there would be a whole lot more of them.

'Water the plant, not the pot' - i just saw this the other day and it leapt off the page at me. Great advice, much appreciated.

Ill get a pic tonight of the one thats miscolored and see what you guys think.

I can't really tell what's going on there... is that twisty bunch the top of the plant, or coming up from a node? If it's the top, fix the water log issue, see how it does for a it, then decide... if it's the node, keep it. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe it impacts the productions/smoke... I doubt it, but maybe that mutation is just one sign of other mutations.

I've seen people happily grow plant which had two tops... and they were great. Mutations is how we get evolution, so yeah... think about it.

Me? I'd keep it, and see what it does. I like to experiment and could usually afford to lose one plant's worth of bud if it came to it.
