Pleased to meet you all

Hello There,

I've been lurking around for a while now. Collating information for my first grow which I've put some details of in a grow journal here...

https://www.rollitup.org/t/yet-another-newbie-first-grow.915274/

I've been a smoker for something like 17 years but recently I've been getting more and more disappointed with the green crap I keep getting sold. So I thought what better time to have a go at growing my own.

Over the past few months I've spent so much time reading as much as I can. There is so much knowledge here that I've happily used I thought it was only fair I get involved so the maybe in the future I can help someone through their first grow as well.

Thank you to everyone whose journals I've leafed through and whose problems I've learnt from without having to stress about my own ladies. It's a great community you all have here.

Thank you!... I'm already enjoying it a lot and I haven't even gotten to trying my own product yet. I think for my second grow I'll get hold of some good seeds to make a few things easier. Thinking Northern Lights, OC Kush, something classic and simple like that. It's certainly a very exciting hobby!

Thank you all!

It's certainly given me something to do sifting through all the information contained here and everyone has been so helpful so far. This is exactly what an online community should be in my opinion.

First grow is still coming along quite well and already looking towards some improvements and strains to try out for the second. I still have at least 3-4 of flower to go yet though.

Thank you, I've always been one to read as much as I can before I start. It's a little unusual that this time I just got them going and went from there. I understand where they're coming from, learning anything new can be daunting and asking questions seems easy, but I never did understand newbies asking the same questions over and over again. There are some really good grow guides around with just about all the info you could ever need.

Northern lights is another one I think I'll try soon. I've heard it's quite a good one for both indoors and beginners... So many strains to try!

I just ordered Big Buddha's Original UK Cheese and Humboldt Seed Organization's Chemdawg, so I'm going semi-old school. UK Cheese is '89, Chemdawg's '91.

Currently running Big Buddha's Blue Cheese and Heavyweight's Fruit Punch. Got the Heavyweight Lemon Cake currently veg'ing.

No, I just meant, like.. Grow something good.
Ah, no worries. That's the biggest problem with forums. Tone can sometimes get a little ambiguous... I'm already thinking that anything I grow myself will be better purely because I'll be willing to put the time into it. The best smoke I've had in recent years was from a mate of mine because he took care of his girls, flushed and cured properly and just generally wasn't only in it to make some quick cash. Makes a bigger difference than I ever thought it would... Even this bagseed I've currently got going has got better nugs than some of the stuff I've seen floating around for sale. Can't wait to get stuck into the White Widow!

Sounds like a nice collection you have there. My plan was to run through all my favourites from the late '90s. Northern Lights, Afghan, Red Devil, Purple Haze are all still on the list. Then I start looking around here and people keep mentioning Jack Herer, Green Crack etc. so a bunch of those have made the list as well. Enough to keep me busy that's for sure. Will have to keep running two at a time just to move through some of them.

Can't say I've ever tried any of the Cheese strains or Chemdawg but the descriptions sound very good!

Unfortunately I stopped being able to readily get "known" strains a fairly long time ago so it's been a bit of "whatever you can get" for some time. That's why I've started growing, so I can start properly enjoying the ritual of a smoke again. Might even branch out and try this vaping thing.

Chemdawg is a parent of such strains as Sour Diesel, and Headband. Cheese was a phenotype of Skunk #1 that became really popular in the UK.

Fantastic, thank you both! There's so many crossbreeds and phenotypes around these days it's good to know where they all come from.

I don't think I had come across Leafly before. That's amazing! Over sixty White Widow strains listed alone! There is a solid chance I will be spending at least a few hours there in the near future.
