Thanks for the feedback, guys! The chains on the framed panel is just a temporary solution, and will be changed for individual ratchets on each corner like you suggested. The plants were thrown into flower early, so they haven`t really grown tall enough for this to be a problem. Hopefully this will change soon :)

I think the filter is made by Prima Klima. I'm not sure though, as I got it from a friend who never got around to use it. It is rated for 1000m3 / hour, while my fan is rated for 555m3 / hour, so it`s a bit overkill.

My main vegging space, 50x50 cm, running a 6000K china cob with 1 or 2 x 50w drivers depending on plant height and room temperature.

Mothers and small plants. One 3000K 100W china cob running at 50W, one 6500K 50W china cob running at 25W. The last lamp is also used for rooting clones :)

Very simple but effective setup.
8 CXB3070 BB Bin 3500K
2 Meanwell 185 1400mA (dimmable "B" version)
The entire dimension of the light is 36"Wx24"L and covers a 4'x4' well at approx 14 inches above canopy.
I plan to build another in the near future.

cool stuff, Ive got the items to build this, still waiting on my arctic silver and screws, though... How hot do your sinks get with the fans off, is it doable? Thanks for sharing, looks good! :=)
 
Here you go guys. There is 3 3500k and 2 4000k Samsung SI-B8U341560WW and Samsung SI-B8T341560WW strips. They are about $12.00 a piece at Arrow or Verical.

I also saved enough space for 4 more strips as well. The dimensions are 22.5"x 21". Two of them are mounted on 2.09" heatsinks from HSUSA. The other three are mounted on 22.5" x 1.5" x .5" aluminum flat bar i had around, along with 1/2 inch angle aluminum for the frame. Approximately 140 watts total. They stay pretty cool with the fans on...like "you could touch your face to it" cool. I have a thread on here somewhere that I documented all of my temps when I first began testing it after the build. As for running with the fans off, Im sure you could get away with it since the active cooling is likely overkill for the size of the HS used in the configuration it is being used. I havent run it passive to see since my HS temps are nice and cool. If your room isnt under 75*F with very adequate air movement I wouldnt recommend running this setup passive (at least not with the HS I used). If the fans crapped out on me while it was running, I dont think any damage would occour to the light before I could replace the fan though.

Really impressive brother. I love utilization of small spaces. I grow in my small bedroom in a condo.
Two questions:
What are the dimensions of the entire unit?
Why not use passive heat sinks instead?

Once again great job. :clap:

It'll be one of the larger grows on here eventually totalling 6kw+ of LED's
My wall will be filled with arduino, PH controllers, ammeter, etc. It'll' be a very tight squeeze and look a lot neater when its done. Got one bar made as well finally.

im dieing to hear how the room temps will be with 6kw of cobs in one space,and how much a/c you really need to cool the setup.
 
Yes, it'll be very interesting.
I've never run refridgerated a/c before, just evaporative. We sometimes get heat waves of 40+ for 7 straight days in the summer, and my grow room being in the garage can reach 38c during lights off! (yes lights off !) Summer is a real struggle with bugs and heat.

One of the reasons for my reluctance to use refridgerated AC is that electricity prices are insane. 37cents a kw (minus tax) if, so I'm very reluctant to get refrigerated ac. With all that said, I manage about 0.77-0.82 gpw using one of the best strains available.
LEDs are a saviour which i hope will solve some of my heat issues in summer and bring up the yield.

Time to retire the old equipment

Thanks man! :) The whole unit is 150cm (w) x 60cm (d) x 200cm (h). I chose active cooling mostly because the parts needed was available locally.
