@coughphee.connoiseur is right. I meant pure Cree COB, don't care if it's PLC or not. Was typing fast, fixed and thanks.

By the way, I know you are a fan, but I'm pretty sure Amare wouldn't have cob lights if not for this forum. That's the word on the street, that Victor learned about them here, so...not sure how that works with the originality narrative.

They sure are pretty though.

Haven't seen or heard anything about these models from amare... You must work for them or with them? or you know a guy huh lol?
Ha! No I don't. Just own one n like it allot. Did a comparison grow.
Already owning one, the owner notifies me when they have new.
He tells inquiring growers too through e-mail. He said he's trying to get the web-site up-dated soon. Overwhelmed with lights going out the door! Not a bad problem to have!

Well, I'm the supposedly the original Amare fan boy. But believe me, I have voiced my displeasure with his sites lack of info for a long time. Mechanical designers are seldom great website designers. When you delegate, you expect people to do the job right. In fairness, they do not know what he knows and it doesn't translate well. He is finally doing something about it, but there are only so many hours in a day. My company has rebuilt our website several times in 10 years. It ain't that easy

And just the fast the site has changed.

Efficiency of a light = photons/heat

to keep it simple stupid we might say basically a watt of energy is a unit of heat...

some food for thought.

Led vs HPS

6 x CLU058 @ 2amps = 636w / 103998 lumens

= 163 lumens per watt

a 600 watt hps = 95000 Lumens

= 158 Lumens per watt.

both need similar cooling.

spectrum ....if you move away from white light you lose efficiency per watt even if you obtain increased par its canceled out by drop of led efficiency.

Imo its hard to justify the extra cost of leds , and to be honest hps might just be the holy grail of light spectrum anyway.

This Forum unfortunately is a big mess, really hard to find relevant information.
I am wondering what are the current concepts Leds and drivers and configurations for supplementing with the RED Spectrums?

HPS is the light to beat for flowering but T5HOs and MH are the light to beat for vegging. do LEDs produce a significant increase in quality and/or yield? if so is the gain worth the substantial increase in cost? I'm a PU MMJ grower. not a commercial grower so I make no profit from my grow. i'm just growing medicine for myself and my S.O. my main grow room is a 2ft by 6ft by 8ft closet where I grow 4 plants under T5HOs and get about 0.7 GPW. I have a 2ft by 2 ft by 8 ft closet where I conduct experimental LED grows.so far I have tried a 300 watt mars hydro and 4 DIY grow lights using cree 3070s ,and vero 18s. I have 4 citizen high CRI (90 cri) diodes on order for my next test grow but so far have not found a configuration that will out perform my T5HOs using a mix of 6500k and flora suns.LED makers are doing themselves no favors with their exaggerated claims. and why are they charging $600-$1200 for a light that I can build for $75-$150 ?I am still trying to find a good 430nm diode that won't break the bank to help fill in the spectrum. I believe that broad spectrum blue light is important to strong healthy plant growth

Exactly! Here is cheap supplemental colors that you could add to DIY cobs

So that and cobs would be pretty epic.
