Hey I'm new to the forum and about to set up my first grow, I'd just like to get some feedback on the gear I plan to use, any advice or suggestions of better options

2 gro cell zelt tents 80x80x160

2 Mars hydro reflector 96 led lights
(or maybe the reflector 48's)
I'd like to know what the best way to control humidity in an led set up is

2 4inch fans with carbon filters set up as exhausts

I'd like any suggestions of fan controllers/climate controllers for temp and humidity

I'm planning to have this set up as a perpetual grow, and suggestions for other stuff I'll need would be very appreciated

Hey there.

What are you planning on growing? Just a little input from me - I had the 80x80x160 tent, and had to get rid for two reasons;

HEAT
Maybe not an issue with your LEDs as much, but I got rid of mine when it was hitting 34c in april/may. A couple of friends using the same tent are nearly hitting 40c, with multiple fans and doors open. Not ideal.

SPACE
I quickly ran out of space growing 4 small autos, and had to work out ways to prop the walls out as much as possible so plants weren't rubbing up on them. I've got 6 plants in my sporadic perpetual setup now, and the Amnesia is 120cm tall, 90cm wide, tethered. When you take into account vertical height lost with lights and hangers, not to mention your pot, you can swiftly run out. If you have the space/cash to get bigger tent/tents, I would.

As for fan controller, I'm using a £5 one from ebay. Obviously manually speed controlled but if temps are good, plants are happy and I have negative pressure I don't need much adjustment. I got it more for noise than anything. If its your first grow, you don't need automation - you'll be spending all your time in there anyway!

Best of luck. Shit grows itself.

Don't make the mistake of thinking hydro is better than organic soil. Hydro does have a faster veg rate but by the time it gets to flower most of the advantages are lost as the root zone fills up. So there's not actually a notable difference in flowering plants, i.e. we all get around 1.0gpw - 2.0gpw when dialed in depending on strain. But with hydro you have to keep the water chilled, you need a place to dump the spent nutrient water and you are measuring shit out everyday. So again if you desire to grow a plant in water that's all good and it makes sense to pay a little more for the same smoke I'm enjoying. But if you want economical headache free growing which is hard to error, yields great and is always delicious then choose organic soil. The secret is you need a tiny veg shelf with fluorescent lights to start your little soil plants under. The will take longer to be as large as the hydro plant under HID but you will have fatter stems.

For the record it took me over 7 years to figure out I wanted soil and longer to realize I could compost the best soil myself. Right now I'm planting a different kind of seed ;)
