Question- privacy and the internet...

Now from what I understand, most are against the FISA bill, Patriot Act, and other laws that make invasion of your privacy legal. Now, what I do not understand is why many of you choose to give away your internet privacy by having high speed internet.. Or does no one read the privacy statements before getting service ?? Does no one understand all the rights they are giving up?

But seriously, when the company is saying they'll hand over your name, address, payment info, emails, every link you've ever visited, the length of time spent at every particular web page, and any other information they have for any investigation or request from law enforcement or government- oh and they don't even have to tell you they gave you away. Seriously- does that not scare anyone? They don't even care for a subpoena to give you away, all someone has to do is ask them and they're like "oh yeah sure, would you like their address too?'.. I hate dial up sometimes- but fuck, I just can't bring myself to WILLINGLY AGREE to that..

i don't want to give up security, but the internet is extremely important to me. if it's too slow, i can't get anywhere. i got RIU to chat on, myspace to talk with old friends, and We The People Radio Network to get all my news and information.

without the internet i would be stuck in a hole!


besides, fuck them if they have a problem with what i look at or say on the net. i don't care what those bastards think, they are devils to me. if they want to label me a terrorist or press charges or whatever, i don't care. Mexico is only 4 hours away.

LOL.. i hear ya dizzy, internet is important to me too- but I'm able to do all those things with dial up as well, I listen to alex jones online every day as well.. when i'm anxious to download something quick I goto pannera bread for free wifi..

I dunno.. faster internet isn't worth giving up one of my god given rights for- to each their own I suppose.

In the long run, its cheaper....you have to have a home phone for dialup, and then it takes forever to get online...I just don't have time to wait...I have to sneak my porn in quickly!

As one who works for a telco/ISP/CATV Provider, I have intimate knowledge of what the Fed can do and what they have forced us to install for surveillance purposes. It all began with CALEA (1994). It's scary.

As an aside, Cisco Systems made a ton o' money from CALEA due to the upgrades ISPs had to perform so that the Fed could surveil the populace.
