Soil for my outdoor plants?

Hey everyone, I've been busy lately and am late getting my plants outdoors. So tonight I decided to get it done. I went to the hardware store and got this soil
http://en-ca.miraclegro.com/smg/goprod/miracle-gro-all-purpose-garden-soil/prod11730025?&
I was in a rush and didn't really look into it as much as I wanted. So I guess my question is.. is this soil any good for my outdoor plants? I still have 2 plants to plant. Is it okay to use this stuff or should I go with something else from the hardware store? Thanks in advance. I wish I planned this a little better but what can you do. Peace

Thanks guys! I was worried for a bit when I got home and saw that the nutrients in the soil is good for up 2 three months.

Will work just watch burnin them. For next time though u could just buy a bail of peatmoss, some perlite n vermiculite n mix it yourself. Ends up being cheap (for me atleast) to do it that way. Mixing ratio would be 50%peatmoss, 40% perlite, 10%vermiculite

A healthy weed plant will deplete it before that.
Im curious that bag said it is organic but feeds up to three months ? I'm wondering with what ? Does it have little blue/green nutrient balls in it ?

Nope, I don't see any nutrient balls.
"Miracle-Gro® All Purpose Garden Soil is enriched with continuous release plant food to help get plants off to a great start. It will feed them up to 3 months and improve the existing soil so your plants can build strong roots."

So here's one of my plants the day after planting. She looks like she's doing well, she's in a forest so the light could be better. I think she'll like it better than the 3×3×4 cabinet in my basement crammed with 3 other plants. Hopefully I'll get some pictures of my other 2 plants this weekend. Peace!

Just as a rule of thumb. I never ever use anything made my miracle grow it's usually cheap garbage. I wouldn't want my enemies smoking flowers grown in it. Why wouldn't you use a better high quality soil. Like pro mix Fox farms. Etc. Shit even lowes and home depot have a organic soil made for canabis. But miracle grow I can't support. I wish you luck. When you transplant chose a better soil and you will notice a huge different with water retention and overall health of the plants.

Cause some of us can't find specialty stuff as easily as others can. I personally don't use mg stuff beside their perlite....n that has like no nutes in it.
Going with big names like fox farms n stuff isn't always the best. I use a soil mix I do myself n it works n grows way better than anything bought on the shelf IMHO.

Edit: thought I should add I don't use the mg perlite anymore though cause I found somewhere too get a bag of good chunky perlite 21lb bag for $13.67. It pays too talk too local nursery n greenhouses.:bigjoint:

I wouldn't let my enemies smoke flowers grown in it.... bro, GTFOH!!! I've know peep's who use MG, Fox Farm to Subcool super soil to making their own. I've myself used MG soil in the past and after a good flush and slow cure...it was fine. If you grown with MG soil and your med's tasted like shit!!?? Then YOU!! Are the problem!!

I agree. It's better to use pro mix and make your own soil. But for most beginners this isn't feasible. Most people don't even know what a true soil should really include. So for them going with fox farms or another big company is a good idea. It's literally only $12 a bag for ocean forest. And trust me I've used it many times and it's great soil. Can you make a benter version on your own, sure. It might even be better. But for someone without the proper knowledge on soil or money to buy multiple ingredients to add to a base mix going with a ready made soil is a good idea. Like I said the ocean forest is a little hot for young clones so I blend the happy frog in too. I use compost teas to complete my soil web too. And both happy frog and ocean forest come with perlite already in it.

Cool. Keep smoking it. I know I'm not the issue. I'm not a rookie. Go around all the forums and tell me how many true growers use miracle grow. Lol. Keep using it. I couldn't care less what you use. I'm not smoking it. I'm just trying to give others better direction that to just use some home depot miracle grow.

So just to defend myself a bit, I live in canada, And I've looked at home depot, lowes, Canadian tire, home hardware and rona and not one of them has "organic soil made for cannabis". I probably could have drove an hour into the the city a grabbed some soil from a specialty shop but like I said time was a factor. I could of ordered something online but I'm just not comfortable doing that. Believe me if getting a organic soil made specifically for cannabis was that easy I'd have my plants in it. With that being said, next year when I have more time/knowledge (this is my first time growing outdoors and srcond grow ever) im going to mix my own soil up.

Why not mix perilite, peatmoss, and manure.. easy and it will work..
Should be able to find Alaskan fish fertilizer 5-1-1, bone meal, blood meal, dolomite lime, Epsom salt
And use alfalfa as well, fast nitrogen and growth hormone

Don't go to a speciality shop and get ripped off paying way too much money.

No worries. I completely understand. Sorry if I came off ass a jerk. My apologies. I know for some these hydro shops aren't as accessible and both orchard and home depot had a brand that was basically made for cannabis. I can't quite remember the name. I will try to go by this weekend and write it down. It looked to be a decent soil. Miracle grow will be fine if you flush it properly and cure it right like the last poster said. I just have access to so many options locally that miracle grow wasn't even an option. But I'm out in California so hydro stores are everywhere. My apologies again and I hope your grow turns out amazing. My girls are in week 6 of veg. Can't wait to harvest.

So please explain why you have this outlook on MG .

I agree. That's a great mix to start with. And you can easily tailor it to your needs. I use a lot of this stuff in my compost tea recipe, which is Fire by the way and if anybody wants the recipe let me know. I will be happy to share. But this is a good recipe for a good soil if someone doesn't want to go to a hydro store. Luckily for me I own my own restaurant so I bring them lunch and get a good deal. Lol. But their prices are really low anyways. Soil at the hydro stores isn't expensive. $12 a bag for 2 cu ft isn't that expensive to me for a ready to use soil. But again your recipe is really good too if you want to mix your own blend.

I have this outlook on MG for several reasons. For starters I don't really have interest in supporting Monsanto. MG is owned by Scott's which should a huge support of Monsanto. MG also contains a ton of chemicals and synthetics. Synthetics isn't too bad if the grower obviously doesn't want to solely feed organic. MG is mass produced and quality control is often lacking and is usually filled with inferior cheap ingredients. On the otherhand Fox farms is hand made locally to me with quality ingredients you can see when you use it. Also Scott's, the parent company, has been found guilty many times in US Federal court for purposely lying and mislabeling products that contained carcinogens and used products that are lethal to wild life. In 2008 a town in Ohio banned MG from its shelves for illegally mislabeling their products that contained a cancer causing and endocrine disrupting pesticide ingredient. Not sure I need to keep going even though I can. Again. Can you use MG and get good results. Sure. Would I use it. Nope. Not a chance. That's not to say some.haven't had good success with it. And if it's the only thing you can get your hands on then it's fine to use just flush the shit out of it and make sure you cure it properly.
