BHO Shatter VS Rosin

From what i gather online forums & youtube, it seems the lower the heat....the lower the yeild. But the lower the heat, the flavor & taste are @ theyre best..... Higher heat seems to yield more, but damaging the terps more a creating a bit harsher smoke.

So the goal is finding that optimum temp that produces appropriate yeilds while still preserving tastefull terpines.....

Thats my take so far...

Sounds like the way to go is processing your buds/pucks twice. Once for the primo shit, and again to get the rest.
 
I only press once, a second try only yields dark runny shit for me. I use a hair iron in a vise so I work around 230-240f, but I know guys with 10ton presses and the like who run around 200f...
 
Of course it varies widely, but I'm not happy if I don't get well over 15% return, a keeper strain needs to give me 20%+.
 
I have yet to try anything cleaner than rosin pressed from bubble hash. Full melt, full flavor and no impurities whether it be iso alcohol or plant material. I make small batches for myself from a flat iron brought up to about 230-240*F (checked with a laser thermometer from Harbor Freight) some parchment paper and a little elbow grease. I get on average about 25% return on weight. Refining my methods in some of the ways you guys are using in this thread, Im sure that number would go up. Considering I have $17 on the hair flat iron, $14 for the laser thermometer and $3 for a roll of parchment paper -my overhead is pretty low haha. Stick with low heat and double/triple press for max yield. You will get more yield from higher temps, but flavor will certainly suffer.

I want to try bubble hash rosin, everything I've heard is right in line with your opinion lol.. Here's a vid on a WA BHO maker who buys 6 star bubble retail and presses it to win Cups

I'm curious if you use a screen or filter material? I've used the brown coffee filters in the above video with good results, and have some 25micron SS mesh I want to try soon as well...(keif not bubble)
 
You will not be disappointed. Honestly, even if you were to run at a higher temp, you dont know how good low heat is compared to high heat until you've tried both. I used coffee filters and expect that if you were to use screens vs coffee filters, you would yield better than I did. Im willing to bet that at least 15%-20% of the product was "lost" to the coffee filters.

It's a measure of the "meltiness" of the hash, 6 star being the highest ( I think he's said in the past it's $100-120 a gram and after press he's left with about .8g lol....
 
There is a lab-grade rosin press now, but it's not worth it unless you have plenty of product.
$1300 - EZ Squeeze + 2-3 week wait time

I might get 1 for this outdoor harvest, I keep breaking hair straightners.
What brand str8ner do you guys use?
 
20 ton h frame harbor freight press and custom 3x5 heated plates from low temp plates. Total for all is 640.00. With 2 yr replacement warranty on the press. I'll be dry ice extracting everything, then pressing the keif in bags.
 
I seen the ez squeeze at the Michigan cannabis cup last weekend. Works great but...... you need an air compressor with a min 150 psi and will make alot of noise when operating. Why I went with a manual press. Nice and quiet. I can squish all night and not wake up the mrs.
