So I'd have been better off letting them chill for a few weeks before planting. Kinda nervous about messing with them now since mine are pushing three weeks in peat and one did pop but died so I might just wait a few more days before I try to retrieve them and let them dry out for around a month or so before trying again.

I can't speak for this particular batch. But Ime germination rates go up exponentially after a month or so. Sometimes they're viable right away, but a lot of times they need a hibernation window.

Agreed. I've noticed that planting seeds right after harvest is a hit or miss, mostly miss for me, but after atleast three weeks they germ fast and at a much higher rate.

My lesson learned here is to now ask how old the beans are so I know how soon I can germ them for the best germ rate.

How long ago did you pull the alien X shoreline beans?

I pulled them at the end of April, they are on the fresh side. The sativa seeds need less of a hibernation time to dry out. My Colombian would have the calayx open and were actually dropping the seeds out, those were viable with no dry time. The Alien crosses have a hard shell and take a few extra days to pop.
