Russet mites? I hope not please help?

The stem on this plant caught my eye while I was watering in my ghouse today. All the plants appear to be healthy, but this one has got me worried. If anybody can offer their opinion as to whether this is russets or not I would greatly appreciate it. The paranoia of getting them is at an all time high and I want to be certain what I'm dealing with. I ordered a new scope to zoom in more and threw this plant out right away. I've been using preventative sprays up to this point rotating azamax, organicide, and neem. I'm planning on planting the rest of the babes in my ghouse for full season, but not if they have russets. Yikes! Please help! Thank you

Without seeing it through a scope it is hard to say. I just dealt with Russets on my indoor veg space and they werent too hard to beat using a rotating combo of wettable sulfur powder and spinosad.
Russet's look almost like tiny brown fibers on your leaves but when you look at it through magnification you will see it moving. You dont need a very high magnification to see them and you can just barely see them with the naked eye. The most obvious symptom is the new growth starts to curl upwards and gets worse if you dont treat it right away. The new emerging growth will also look a little brown instead of the normal yellow-green and that is due to the high population of mites eating it and then it grows out with the upwards curl
This is a pic I pulled off the web, but it was what I experienced when I found out I had them and began treating my plants. Much easier to deal with if you are only in veg. Whatever treatment you choose, 100% coverage is the most important aspect of the battle. If you have a large space you might need to buy an atomizer or paint gun and just fog out your whole space with it. I started with 3tbsp wettable sulfur powder per gallon of water and just drenched everything. Then a couple days later I did a round of spinosad, then repeat. I also topped all the damaged plants and made sure to seal the trash up extra good and threw that shit real far away. Also mopped my floors with rubbing alcohol and removed any yellow and fallen leaves.

I've had russet mites, too. I used a combination of Avid and Azamax, repeated once about 6 days later. This worked for veg, I've had to trash whole crops before when they got bad in bloom.

Thanks for the reply fellas. I need a scope to be certain about them being russets. I can't imagine my iPhone zoom will suffice in identifying them. How fast did they spread for you guys in veg? Do they hit the garden hard all at once or slowly start doing damage? I think I'm gonna hit them with sulphur Coming up. Gonna hold off on the avid until I'm certain they are russets. Appreciate the Input I've been stressed out about this all damn day.

sorry for you if you have russets. they are beatable. use bioworks mycotrol-wpo mixed with suffoil-x .
read my thread. it is full of things I researched with the help of many members here on riu. I had them bad, but it not to late for you. I had them from veg and into flower before i discovered bioworks.com through another member (TWS) .

I would never recommend using alcohol as a foliar spray. It can be very damaging to your lungs if you breath it in. And it can also be damaging to plants and your micro heard.

Two Pyrethrum bombs. Set off the second bomb 5 days after the first one. Then spray neem as preventative 5 days after the second bomb. Keep everything supper clean after the treatment.

I had russet mites in an indoor garden I tend for a friend. It took me a while before I realized what I was battling. Then I murdered them all. The trick is remaining super vigilant after u eradicate them. Dont let them come back...

Guys, I have posted about this many times elsewhere on here but just as a cheap preventative measure, try those electronic insect repellers. I have been using them for years without any other pest control and have never gotten more than a few gnats and 1 or 3 actual spiders. Never a mite since I started using them. I actually tried them the first time because I got spider mites in one of my cabinet grows and 1 of these actually got rid of them. Now, I have 2 going in my room at all times. So in my experience they either work or I am the luckiest grower alive. I think the yrun about $20 for a 3 pack so it's definitely worth a shot as a preventative measure.

i use the ones for rats and they work great.
