Hermie seed success rates???

Harvested a blue dream about six months back that hermie'd due to rolling blackouts causing my a/c and light timer to reset multiple times in three days that I was gone. (I'm assuming that's why she herm'd)
Anywho, I got around 100 seeds or so, and I popped 5 a month back or so. My question is: even though they will all begin life as females, would it be foolish to think that a grower could keep them female by providing a perfect environment, or are they doomed to eventually hermie as well? Thanks growers!

IMHO...hermie seeds will produce hermie plants regardless of how they are grown.

I've gotten a few that were worth keeping around, but invariably they will mostly be junk...

I was going to dismiss that article but thats probably the best grow article ive read on the subject.

Points it made which are quite relevant to me are that it is a perfectly natural trait, this means its hard to breed out so your gona see it now and again and hence it has some genetic influence.

Secondly that its not such a big deal if you only get a few male nannas, which are perfectly controllable and probably more so by new growers who stare for long periods at their plants.

Lastly the article backs up the claims ive made that new growers will see a larger percentage of herms than someone on their hundreth grow. Obviously this leads to many slandering the dna, seed companies, hermie die and what not. Really counter productive to the whole industry and knowledge on the subject.

With all that said i grow a lot of so called hermie seeds and dont have any of the problems the original grower did in flower. Im pretty sure most seeds are quite decent in the right hands.

So if your broke or cheap or wanting to experiment then these are the perfect seeds for you but if you can afford new seeds id probably try an easier to grow strain to reduce your chances of stress over the entire grow.

You'll never know unless you grow them out. You will likely have a higher rate of of unstable plants, especially if your enviro is not dialed.

Gorilla Glue #4 was made by accident when a plant hermed a room and the seeds were grown out.
Several offspring of GSC were found as bagseed from flowers that self pollinated. Chemdog started as bagseed as well. All of those are very popular and considered elite.

i have done this with an unstable brainwreck/S1 seeds
grown out a dozen plants or so
50/50 on the hermie trait
but those that hermied, hermied quick
turns out no worse than regular seeds if you toss the hermie ones

I would have to disagree with your last sentence. If you are paying good money for genetics that have been bred properly you should not see any herms, if you do you should inform the breeder.

Problem is 80% of companies out there are pumping out untested F1 crosses that havent been worked at all and people are just eating it up and paying for it too. Just today I saw a new company making a drop of around 10 new crosses all using a male that was only released last year and they are asking $100 for ten seeds. That shit is ridiculous, its like paying to test genetics for a company that hasnt done any work.

I realize I got sidetracked on that last post.
Back to the original subject, you have to weigh out whether or not you think a Blue Dream S1 is something worth spending money and the next 4-6 months of your life on. Most would say no when it comes to blue dream and just move on. If you are desperate for seed or are really stoked with blue dream and just need a project then go for it. If you have a lot invested in the grow and have other things growing at the same time, I probably wouldnt risk it or you are gonna spend a lot of time every day inspecting your plants for any signs of nanners

First off, I'm not really too picky about quality and genetics, this will only be my third grow. That being said, even w the seed, the bud was pretty dank, and I'm not a commercial grower so bag appeal is not too much of an issue. I will be ordering some sort of seed of in a month or two, just looking for something to grow between grows. The blue dream that got seeded was the only hermie out of four I grew, and all four came from seeds in the same nug. I realize that doesn't pertain much to my circumstances, but hope shall spring eternal lol.
Thanks a million for all the knowledge guys and gals, much appreciated.

I just harvested some ladies that came from beans pollinated by two bagseeds. None of them popped nanners and most of the hermie seeds show the same phenos as the original strains. I actually had the original strains flowering as well for a complete observation. Hopefully you'll get some good meds from your seeds.

...
i meant that the S1 seeds that i got were giving me a 50/50 chance of a normal female
which wasn't so bad considering the seeds were free
now the parent, that obviously had some genetic issues, cross is supposedly arcata trainwreck x white widow
i do see posts that aracta trainwreck crosses can be unstable

I'm growing 5 plants which the seeds came from a hermie plant (bet there was a hundred seeds in the ounce)

None of the 5 are showing any signs of being a hermie, and they have not had a stress free life

Maybe I'll will find seeds inside the buds, but so far all looks good

Kingrow1...I agree. I read About a hundred different websites and they all either say, "you're good they'll be great," while the other half say, "throw them away they're trash." I do appreciate the actual, real world knowledge people are dropping.
Not that it matters, but this is actually my fourth grow. The third is about two weeks from finishing (SLH fem seeds, my first grow not from bag seed lol) my first two grows were all bag seed and only one hermied, so hearing people saying they're growing out herm'd bag seeds into nice plants is very promising!

I got more as a new grower but now hardly ever, im not recommending them but im not hating them either, they certainly got me through some tough times.
