how does it look 2 weeks and 3 days in? More soil?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently a few days past the second week with my 5 autos! I've just taken a picture of one of the plants (they all look similar to this). How does it look ?

As I took the picture I saw that there are some roots poking out of the bottom of my 3 gallon (11L) pot - is this ok?

Furthermore the soil/coco/perlite mix that I'm using has gotten "compressed" so that it does fill up the pot anymore - is it ok to put more soil mix in the Pots so they fill up and then just give it a little water ?

Sorry about my English! Haven't used it in a loong time - and I'm high AF HAHA!

Thanks!image.jpegimage.jpeg

Another question! I've seen or read something about a special kind of "sunglasses" that you can wear in your grow room to prevent damage and make color more true. Do you know if regular sunglasses are ok? If not, where can I find them as cheap as possible ? :)

Hi Aydin.
Your English is great! Better than mine and its my first language(and only language).
To answer the question of roots poking out, that's no problem, roots will find there way out regardless, it doesn't mean they are root bound. Its a bonus actually, when a root pokes out of a hole the tip becomes air dried and will make more roots form in the same way an airpot works. Have a look at airpot threads to see what I mean.
As for adding more soil/coco to the top, yes that's no problem. There will be some compression. I only use Coco with some clay pebbles and a small amount of perlite, when I pot I tap the pot on a hard surface so it knocks out any pockets of air. But you will still find it compresses down as its watered the first few times. Better that way than compressing it yourself as you pot.
I have not heard of mixing coco with soil.
As to how they look, one looks slightly paler. Are they the same strains? What are your temps and your RH? Do the leafs feel paper like? I'm looking at the edges and they look like they are slightly crinkled. Is your PH correct.
I don't know what the correct PH would be for a soil coco mix, they both have slightly different Ph. What is the ratio of soil to coco and what was the idea behind mixing it?
I'm sure others will jump in who are better at diagnosing the plants health but if you can provide more info as ive suggested above it will help everyone.
Take it easy!

Thank you for your answer ! :)
The two pictures are actually of the same plant. I maybe think that it's the light that makes it look a little pale. I wouldn't say that the leaves feel like paper .

Humidity is 40-50 % and temps are ranging from 70-76 f. The ph is about 6 (both in watering/feeding and in the runoff), but that is measured with a ph-kit if you have heard about them? You take a little water and put two droplets of the "ph-analyzer" in it and it changes color to the actual ph.
I'm sure that this method isn't really precise but I can't afford a professional ph-meter at the moment.

The soil is alrea mixed with a little perlite. I mixed the soil 50/50 with coco. I was told by the man in the grow shop where I bought all my stuff that this would be fine and would give the plant more oxygen ... I hope it's going to be ok!

Do you also know when I can start to train the plants ?
Thanks !image.jpegimage.jpeg

Ah the same plant! it must be the lighting.
Yes I know the Ph kits you mean, I used one for a while before buying a Ph stick. They are reasonable and you will be fine with that. Be careful to make the droplets as even as you can each time, they are such small test tubes and such small amount of water so you want to be as accurate as you can be.
Like I say I have not heard of that mix of coco and soil, but that means nothing as I have never used soil and for sure the coco will help with aeration. Its great stuff is coco.
Your RH levels sound good as does Ph and temps.

You can start to train now if you like, top or fimming or just tie them down slightly and pull down gently over a few days period. There is many a training method and everyone has their favourite.
Have a search on here and there's a lot to read on any method you chose.
Good luck with them Aydin!

I'm glad to hear that it CAN be used! I'll be extra carefu with the droplets (:

I will try to fill the pots up before the lady's go to sleep and then just give them a little water so that the new top layer is a little damp. I think I need to read a little more about lst cause I didn't think that you could train them as early as now ! Love to read and get wiser anyways!:bigjoint:

Thank you for your help!

I would say transplant it into a much bigger planter now.
I've just read that with auto flowers bigger pots won't give so much more in the end. Furthermore many says that re-potting autos ain't good too...
Have you tried autos with bigger pots?:weed:

My mistake. I didnt read fully. Looking at the picture, that seems to be the smallest 3 gallon pot I have ever seen. It looks so incredibly small.

Yeah, 11 litre is only 2.4 gallon, I have some 11s that I don't use, they are usually taller and narrower than the 15ltr. Or at least mine are. I bought loads of em cuz they were on fleabay and were cheap for square pots. Pre buying 15s!

Ok. I will go for 15 liters next time. Can I get even better pots than these basic plastic pots in 15 L size? Smartpots coco pots and so on ?
I'm thinking about going hydroponic(coco or perlite, or a mix of them both) but can't quite figure out what stuff I need to do it - without having to water/feed them 3 times daily..

These pictures are FRESH from 5 min. Ago. I've just LST' them all using "natural" cord. many new small leaves and pistils are getting light now  ooh boys! I really can't wait ... Haha. image.jpegimage.jpeg
