I tried to give people here the benefit of the doubt. Ive gone to church and charity functions and volunteered and tried to make friends here but people really are just shitty.

I volunteered to shave my head for St Baldricks and donated the money. I go down to the bar where they're hosting the event and everyone looks at me like I'm a fucking alien. I thought for a charity event you might want as many people donating to the cause as possible. Wrong! Turns out its a circle jerk just for local white firefighters to slap each other on the back.

First week I'm in church the pastor is railing against gays and Muslims and neither of course are members of that delegation. They show a slide show of all the construction they've done for the church but no mention of any charity work. They put on religious dances and talk about helping your fellow man but their is no outreach in the community.


I've given people here a fair shake until they open their mouth and blurt out something stupid or do something. I love it when toothless fat bitches in jeggings stare and make run of my girls tattoos.
Or confederate flag bearing trucks veer into my lane with no signals. You have a lot to be proud of people and your Petty small brains can't comprehend the damage you do. If there were an intelligent, articulate Southern poitician who could passionately argue their point About these policies Maybe someone would listen. I'm waiting....

It's funny as a minority I've felt the burden (privilege maybe) of representing my race and nationality in front of other people. I have to be well spoken clean cut and soooo patient when I meet new people. I have to laugh off the fact that when I say I'm Peruvian/Colombian descent and people try to picture where that country is the image in their head is a map of the US Canada and Mexico surrounded by shadows.

When we called the cops they didn't do anything. 6'2 asshole grabbed and bruised her and we have picture proof and she still has the bruises. He cheated her out of $1000 in work and inventory and when she tried to quit and leave he grabbed her.

I have lived in 6 different states and 1 other country.

I have lived near large communities of hispanics, blacks, whites, and arabs.

I have friends and family that are dirt poor and some that are well off.

I have had friends that are gay and friends that are trans.

I married a full blooded mexican man. He had nothing when I married him. I married for love.

His stepfather is from iraq. His half sisters are mexican and arabic. They are teaching my daughter to speak arabic and spanish.

Many of my aunts have MS. My mother is my one aunts caregiver. She pays her bills, schedules her doctors appointments and takes her to them, takes here for groceries, and handles her legal issues.

My grandfather had alzeimers and my whole family including me helped care for him.

I also shaved my head for saint baldricks.

Your right flaming. It's just such a culture shock and when people are blind to that shit it leaves me agog. My neighbor who got assaulted is from Califronia and she almost had a nervous breakdown at the magistrates reaction. She lost all faith in the system.

And this is a larger city. It's not Raleigh or Asheville but it has a major military base. Their is a lot of animosity. The locals don't like outsiders influencing their policies and everybody else want it to be modern America. I feel the hate from both sides like I always do. I'm a white Hispanic from NYC who looks Jewish. Locals hate me for looking and thinking different and the military hate me for being part of town. Hispanics and whites look at me wierd when I speak Spanish.
