looks sweet folks. even tho the new hood is cool to the touch, i wonder if the strength from a 1000 new bulb may create a hotspot, towards the center, if the plant is within less than 10" from the glass. i saw the thin canoeing leaf in post #134 and it got me wondering. mighty vigorous plants u have there w you DWC. i imagine that the EC level could jump up considerably within just a few days w that water to plant root ratio- they probably drink a lot at this stage. as soon as the water gets low, the nute salts spike i imagine. curious how the EC and PH drifts within this system in the course of a few days.
gonna get real interesting within the next few weeks... nice show!
the highest tips are bending a little under the intensity of the light, but no hot spots. no bleaching either. I'm raising the hood this evening, just been neglecting it for pain reasons. But however, the curling isn't too big a deal; they still have at least four weeks left, i'm thinking more like six, to go. now that the major stretching is done, i think i can set the light about 8'' above the tallest tips and be ok.
the ppms do rise the first couple of days after a res change. about 1680ppm right now, but they get topped off, generally a gallon a day, sometimes more. after a couple of days, the ppms drop significantly, they're eating so much. about 700ppm at res change, and the water is nearly clear.
dwc is awesome, it was the first true hydroponic venture i ever completed. i had three plants in a 25g drum, and got just over 12oz from a 400whps and a 400w metal halide. i did a bunch of dwc, but after getting into it, i prefer tables or tubes, nft e+f or aero. we're looking at getting a 4x8 table for the tent. it's going to get interesting!
