Already posted how the keep em in the dark myth started, but please do let us know what you discover
What, from a fake quote from SIMM? It's a certainty that 24 hours of dark will burn off all stored starch, so that alone is an improvement, unless you think starch is nice to smoke. After 24 hours, it would be in starvation mode so I can't see that helping UNLESS they're fed sugar. For all anyone knows, maybe THC can be produced without light if sugar is supplied. Doubtful but conceivable.

Nothing to it, when ready to harvest simply water em with boiling water, then wait 3 to 5 days leavin em under the lights and watch em fade. The variable in days is strain related some will fade faster than others. Once you are happy with the fade chop em, dry em, jar em just like any other harvest
3-5 days of 24hr lighting or 12/12?

You are right about killin starch, I brown bush plants all the time, just not in total darkness. But some food is required to get proper fermentation. Would be a bitch to get a good sweat cure without the energy to convert things. I understand the premise, not dismissing it for smoother smoke, but a sweat cure is so much better 8)

I don't know how much difference it makes. I just always leave the light off at the end until I get around to harvesting it all, which usually amounts to about 36 hours later. At the very least people should harvest at the end of the 12 hour dark period rather than any time during lights on, since it's known that THC is highest just before dawn. Most starch is burned within 12 hours anyway, 24 just makes sure.

I harvest with the lights on because I can't see in the dark. I have done both ways but never noticed a difference. I think the plant is alive for a couple days after you chop it.

Yet another myth that won't die and Bob I'm not hatin, I'm trying to make this thread a teaching thread !

I've done the experiment, I had a bud tested, it was 25% THC, O% CBN. I then left bud set out in the open air in my living room on my coffee table for a month, sure it was bone dry and crumble to dust if squeezed and then I had it tested again, it was 22% THC 1%CBN.

And as I said I regularly Brown bush plants, what is that you say, glad you asked, you simply set the plant aside whole, in the pot, without cutting anything, in low light for 2 and a half to 3 months then harvest the buds off it, some of the best smoke there is !!!!! Most will never know cause most won't wait that long for it. ask @ttystikk how that brown bushed Pearl smoked a few days ago ???

I can also link a science paper that is very telling 8)

Do you want the low lighting to be on flower schedule? Should you also boil the roots before setting aside?
