Recommendations using crap I have laying around

i dont get why you want to close off the ends and trap heat in there? are you planning a fan to cool this inside the box?
 
I going with 1 Meanwell hlg 120h-c1050 and run two Cree cxb3590 72v version at 80w each. Not sure if there will be any issues running a potentiometer on this

Fixed the angle and dropped the height down to just shy of 3 inches also added some angle to the ends to clean up the look a bit everything is not fully tightened down because there are a million screws. I just put in a few to show where it's at currently also everything needs to be de burred and cleaned up...more to come

I was going to get fancy and out some wording on the sides but I decided to keep it simple and clean

Its getting there...I just need to clean it up de burr and do a few cut outs for fan, switch, potentiometer and maybe something else but I can't think of it at the moment. I may also decide to have a buddy anodize everything black but not sure I'm kinda taking it one day at a time.

Are you recreating your Tasty fixture? It looks great.

Editing to ask, why are the fans off-center? Is that to leave room for the driver?
 
I was inspired by the tasty fixture for sure it is a very nice fixture. It is similar just slightly different
 
I think one subtle design difference is that by milling the sides and not having an end capped you may not move air over the entire heatsink. It might just take the path of least resistance and squirt out the sides.
 
The side are not completely capped and there is tons of surface area having more fins in the sink. This along with the fans I hope should be more than fine for 2 cobs. I do think your right about air taking path of least resistance but even with that its still going to push enough air down the length of the heat sink.

Thank you for your input and comments. Yes off center due to lack of space. The driver will eventually be on the longer side and a little 12v power supply for the fans will be on the other end. I was a bit worried how it would look but After it was done I thought it looked better than being in the center it gives it a different look in my opinion.
 
It looks great. I'll be legitimately interested in what kind of temperature gradient you see when it's all together and running.
 
Nice job on that light assembly @IFARTED. That looks professional. Or mass produced and available to the the market lol but the only thing I'm curious about and it was mentioned above before you added fans, and that's the peak operating temperature. Do you have a way to measure that?
 
Got the parts on order... It was a bit of a pain because not any one supplier had everything I needed. So I basically ordered the main components from 3 different people lol. Anyone got any ideas on how I should mout this to a hanger? I'm guessing just get 4 eye bolts or maybe 2. I have seen "cable " type hangers used in aquarium lights but can't seem to find out where I can buy them. I am considering making something similar
