48 hours ?????

I have my first girl ready for harvest yippeeeee now do I put her in dark for 48 hours or chop straight away which is best she is a critical/jack h autoflower had plain water feed last couple of days will it make it better in dark or not ??? An thanks for taking time out on this :blsmoke:

Well the best thing you can do is to discover for yourself. Grow 2 clones from the same mom, put one in the dark and the other not. See if you can tell the difference ?

Give samples of each to friends and see if they can tell the difference, don't tell em which is which IOW a blind smoke test

Ya see I did this many many years ago when I first heard bout the dark thing, the testing that started it all was a hoax, if ya go to the institute web site, there was no such paper ever published.

and there was no difference in the smoke,

But what do I know ?

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

My late father used to keep the cut off buds hanging upside down in tin foil wraps, he was always adamant that keeping the buds in the pitch black when drying made them stronger. So me and my brother took a gram of his finished personal product and Compared it to the other buds being given light while drying. Our "dark enhanced" stuff tasted better, and this is from the Og skunk #1 genome. Waaay back in the day.

As for the whole plant just before harvest, i truly do not know. If you want enhanced trichomes, look into blacklight stimulii (uv) during the wind down period before harvest.

To clarify, both types, personal and in the "sale" catagory were all foil wrapped like sandwiches. Not trying to fight back, just that i do think curing and drying in pitch black makes sense to me.

Just watch out for those goddamned PGR's hydro shops throw in their nutes, or you'l soon find a "superbud" taste well after flush...

What does the tinfoil do to improve the bud then, if it's not the darkness? Is it just that it slows the drying process? I've looked into all this a little bit, don't know much about it yet but I can't really see a good reason to leave them stood in the dark; the practice of gradually reducing light hours for the last few weeks does make some kind of sense to me as that is what would happen in nature as winter starts drawing in, although I don't know if there's any benefit to doing that to mine either? I really look forward to being able to play with my plants and experiment for myself once I get a couple of grows under my belt and have more space and better equipment to work with. I want to be a Cannaisseur (I just made that up) and one day I'm gonna have an awesome organic outdoor grow too! :bigjoint:

actually depends on a few things

there are cultures that wrap it in banana peels, others use corn husk, we used to wrap em in sheets

lots of different ways to skin a cat

Banana peels? That's interesting, I'll have to look into that. Now that is something to put on the 'to play with' list for a future grow!

Lololol that's so weird! Just updated my journal then came here from the alert, and my journal entry began with "Just found mold..." so when I saw that I thought you knew already, I was really confused!
