Afghani seed issues

So I had 10 of the herbies free afghani reg seeds. So far, I've tried to germinate 6 of them. Used the paper towel method. Kept in a warm environment, only 2/6 seeds opened up a tap root. One of those two transplanted to soil and popped. The other one I thought wouldn't make it but just popped out of soil about 9 days later. Either way, I just laid down 4 more of them in the paper towels after soaking them in the cup for about 12-20 hours when they sank. I have germed plenty of other seeds (dinafem mainly) and have a 11/12 success rate (one that didn't was a green/young seed from blimburn) so I think it's just these free afghanis.

Anyone else have issues getting these seeds to pop?

This afghani 1 strain freebies are so bad that they have completely ruined my opinion of Herbie. By now there is no way he doesnt know the freebies he has been giving away for like 2 years now are shit. It hasnt stopped him at all, he is still giving away these bullshit seeds wasting growers time and space and doesnt give a shit. So I will feel the same way about herbie, fuck him and his shit that he gave to me to grow and wasted 3 months of my time.

I feel freebies should be legit good genetics, the whole point being breeders getting their genetics out there to peak the customers interest in buying more of their stuff. When I first started out I hadn't heard of dna genetics and got a free lemon skunk from herbie, it was absolute fire and now I will always be strongly drawn to dna genetics for future grows. This is the point of freebies, not, here, have some free ditch weed. May as well be offering 2x free regular lumps of dog shit than shitty cannabis genetics, its a waste of peoples time and space, not something to be wasted in this business

He throws other freebies in its not just them i mean i got og kush chemdawg critical+ cheese and breeder freebies aswell just on my last order alone and some people have had good success with them (very few) it's more like a drop in the bucket same thing with nirvana freebies personally I look at it this way 10 extra free or nothing shit toss em out it the yard Litterally toss them and see what happens can't be any worse off then not having them

Couldn't agree more dude..my last order was my very last..and I was loyal and placed a dozen orders over the years from Herbies..what a waste of time and soil on these worthless beans... I'd rather have nothing than this garbage strain.

yeah he does offer the dinafem and that is a good thing as I hear they are legit and more people should give them a chance. I would have grown the og kush freebie I got instead of the afghans but unfortunately mine was crushed.

Well although I am disappointed to findout the news that they're trash, I appreciate the input.
Only reason I needed them was because I only ordered fem seeds and wanted one male to selectively pollinate a few lower buds from my other strains (silver surfer haze, dinafem cheese, frisian dew) so I don't have to get seeds next year. Looks like I'm better off scraping that idea.

Good for practice on

avoid letting your seeds soak so long in the cup,

I suggest you may have in inadvertently drowned them

imo/ best to remove to the kitchen towel after they have sunk 6-8 hours imbibtion at most

you have some nice fems, mixing in some more indica would have screwed these phenos /imo

consider a dance with some sts or diy colloidal silver ..???

Thanks for the advice. First round of germ with my good genetics and a few afghanis, I skipped the soak stage and had great success using just paper towel then to soil (with the exception of the poor afghani rates). That's why the second round using only new afghani seeds, I soaked them then put them on paper towel. Still, thanks for the info

Also, awesome blog posts! I think I just discovered the holy grail on RIU. Somehow missed it even though I've been sifting through the forums reading for months.
