I a guessing a little on the "wary" part. And you didn't use this but I just thought I would point it out - "cut the muster" rather than cut the mustard.
I swear I get more stupid over the years.. My post from 7 years ago are beautifully written. Now I am just half way retarded..

No, it's mustard. From making hot mustard sauce, you want to pair with other strong flavors that will still be tasted alongside it, hence 'cutting the mustard'.

Etimology is trivia crack for English majors.

'Passing muster' is a military term, directly derived from the routine of 'falling in' to lineup for inspection, or 'muster'.

Half the fun is that English is confusing as fuck all- :cuss:...and why I did not follow in my parent's footsteps!

If someone could explain when to use then versus than, to members, I'm sure we'll all come out ahead without having any feathers ruffled.
I fly that one by the seat of my linguistic pants, I never could keep that shit straight!

'Then' is generally a reference to time, or the order of things; first this, THEN that.

'Than' is generally a comparison; my E(nglish) weenis is bigger THAN that!

I actually have trouble with those two myself..

I guess the proper use would be..

It's better than it use to be.. *edit* that's f$cking wrong...

Way back then..

lol I guess than compares something
and then is speaking of a time?

I was great at math in school like straight A's.. lol English was always F's.. And 4th period which I always skipped..

Even my sentence structure sucks, but I try to make it easy to read..

And I am not always sure where to use commas.

But I use to write a lot better and simple math is becoming more difficult.

Predictive spelling makes people stupid, however I wish my laptop and desktop had it..

I am fucking rumbling about nonsense... Forgive me
