1st CFL Growing advice

So after reading the Seemorebuds book, Im going to try to grow a single plant using CFL lights. Im interested in the different ways of setting up, and what will ideally be required. The book says the supplies I should have are:

6 42watt CFL bulbs with reflective hoods
1-5 Gallon container with drainage holes
Potting soil
Timer
Rockwool
Pertile

Additional supplies: Fans, odor eating lights, thermometer, ph supplies

Im looking for a simple setup, under 100$ that is efficient and will allow me to yield atleast 4 oz. Im lost as to whether I should make an actual box, or just let lights hang above them, being in the open. Anyway, I like the stealth design here, and I might try this

DIY stealth Rubbermaid growbox - Dedicated to Cannabis Education, Recreational. Medicinal, and Cultivation.

And I also saw this

SH Hydroponics, Inc. > Bucketeer DWC Kit

I appreciate and criticism and advice, thanks :eyesmoke:

why only one plant is it from seed? do you have a dresser? once i took out my bottom three drawers apart and nailed the fronts of them to make a door it was pretty roomy for how stealth it had to be.

Well for it being my 1st CFL grow, Id like to have complete control over one and just see how it turns out, I might add more later. I have multiple seeds, and I could take clones because I have 2 growing outdoors, but they are both small plants and I duno if it makes a difference cloning a small plant or just germinating a seed.

The reason they ask you if your only growing 1 seed is because when you grow that 1 seed for 4-6 weeks and then you finally do flower the plant. Chances are it's going to be a male and then your going to sit their and think. Damn if i would have planted a few more seeds i might have a female right now.

Ah, very true, maybe ill plant around 3 and hope to have 1 fem and if others are male, just kill em off. Also, I have an outdoor plant right now, would it be ok to clone that and bring it inside?

I agree with Dr.Chronic.. 3 would be the least amount I would plant... It would suck to get nothing but males.. 3 gives you better odds at a female.

and YES... if you have a confirmed female outside... take cutting and reveg them inside.

I think ill take a clone, but what if I take the whole plant inside also/instead? That was my next question. What is a good lighting cycle for a plant taken from the outside to inside, and what is a good lighting cycle for a new plant
