I'm going to build a Cabin

Wanted to give you an idea of the terrain I'm dealing with and the reason why I'm not using my equipment for this build.

When they cleared the fields on both sides of my house they took all the granite boulders and lined them across the property about halfway back. Just behind the boulders is a thick line of trees I want to keep for a windbreak for the animals. Past the line of trees is where I cleared the pasture, which is about 3 acres.

I can get through with an atv and small tractor but I don't I want to risk breaking an axle driving the skidsteer or payloader back there.

That makes sense. The atv and tractor probably help moving all the felled trees and such right?

Anywho, got pre-approved for the mortgage on the house. Still waiting on my cousin to call me back with a definitive day but probably gonna go peep them properties later this week. Sorry for turning this into "I'm gonna build a homestead" thread lol.

I like hearing about what you're doing, you sound excited.

And so far everything I've done in back has been by hand, only used the atv to haul the chainsaw and gas. Once I get it cleared a little more I'll bring the tractor back to help move stuff around.

How long has the property been listed? Get your offer in, you'll have time to professionally inspect it before anything is finalized. I've lost a few places that were priced well, because ppl jump on them. Often the timing comes down to just one day. Time is of the essence

It's been listed since Late October apparently.

good luck with showing, hope it's what's you're looking for. that weird road scenario will just add character and keep traffic away from your crib! more privacy. fall thru spring are slow times for buyers. i bet there is plenty of interest in the property, even if it's been on the market thru the winter.

I saw that documentary about 12 years ago on pbs..dude is probably the most impressive guy I've ever seen..what a badass and everything he built he did solo and he made a lot of his own tools..I recommend every man watch that doc.
Ditto. It is a must see documentary.

You guys remember Les Stroud? Survivor man. Before he did the show he and his wife lived, in Alaska I think, for a year and build a cabin. There is a doc about it floating around the web I watched once. It is a good watch.
