Growing marijuana is so difficult because it is illegal

I dont know if your a member on a leading tomato or pepper site but its very clear that the legal impeadment has actually made our site a lot more technical, advanced and popular than other legal plant sites.

Theres no truth to that, being illegal has pushed us to the front of the growing edge.
I think there's a lot of truth in what you say, but I also think that the money involved is just as important a driving factor - maybe even more so. When tomatoes start selling for $2500 a pound and up., I think you'll see a lot of tomato growers suddenly become much more scientific about their growing techniques.

Agreed but when you make anything illegal the price rockets as its no longer at free market prices.

Sure rub our colonistic noses in it!!! Show off! LOL!:peace:
Nah ive got nothing but love for you but i see med weed as a concession when you should have held out for the real prize and full legalization.

We truly are 'holding out' one by one the 'colonies' are coming around. It won't be long now. I can feel the trembling of the DEA, the local police, and the drug smugglers! They are about too loose a HUGE source of income...the patients and the partiers are going to have their dog day and that will truly be the toke heard round the world!

I have to say I believe growing is as hard as you make it. I've been on both sides of the fence legally. Had been growing here in MI long before it was deemed medicinal on a state level. I still see no difference in the difficulty other than prices being affected on grow equipment since there are more doing it now and there is a larger market for supplies/storefronts so of course people are going to capitalize on it. Gotta pay to be stealth whether it be using carbon scrubbers or building blinds outdoors to hide it from thieves or "Big Brother". Either way, you gotta be stealth & that usually equates into spending $$$.

I think all I want to say is: "Fuck the police", "fuck the government". For a government to threat to put you in jail for growing or smoking something you have an inherent right to smoke as a human being because they grow naturally in our planet is just slavery.
They are fucking turning us into slaves and they take our tax money, fuck them. That shit is from the dark ages, this is why Aliens don't want to contact us.

Fuck the government, can I have an Amen?
You can't really blame police they don't make the laws. The government does but they're put in that position by your fellow citizens. I blame religion myself. If you looked at a map of the U S most of the states where its totally illegal is the middle of the country, the bible belt. You would see the same thing with other "morality" based laws like abortion or gay marriage. Morals are an individual choice and laws shouldn't be based in them. If you're an adult of sound mind and body and you're not hurting or infringing on anyone's rights it's none of my business what you do. I'm not saying that heroin and meth should be allowed to flood the streets but that's another story.

i've started playing a game with my growing girls. "live or ill kill you in time". seems to work.

even if it was all on the up and up can could grow them outside. i wouldn't, kitten grass is as good as my gardening skills goes, and even that only last till about my furry Queen decided that its time to end that grow project (furry paw slaps it out the window.. distantly looking at the jumping and dodging 2 legged creatures avoiding head trauma)

You can blame the police, and let me tell you why. The police are looking for grows and raiding houses and its not about law because they exercise discretion, it purely the choice of the police to make task force geared at stopping people from growing. The police have ample time to target the true baddies but they don't, in fact the police are making more crime than preventing it. Lets examine the actions of the police and the law, the law says a person can not be stopped and frisked-searched or seize without probable cause or reasonable suspicion but they do it anyway. Many people right have been violated by the police because they ignore laws, of course having a law in effect could contribute to this but at the end of the day it's men in uniforms who believe they are above the law making the decisions and the not pencil pushers. I hate talking politics but the law is what the police want the law to be instead of what it is.

I agree they act on an individual basis and stop and fuck with people for no real reason "you fit the description type shit" Some may be worse criminals than the people he laws in some places now if you get caught you end up with a criminal record that's there for life. My point was the reason for the laws are ridiculous, it's a gateway drug, cannabis today meth tomorrow, it makes white women wanna sleep with black men, just silly shit. Nothing based in science or medicine.

sorry op didn't mean derail your thread

It is a gateway drug to me and many old friends, i got lucky and made it back to the gate but some didnt R.I.P.

Its wasnt science but our own stupidity, the last guy i knew who took his life from meth got his first hit of weed from me years ago. Do i feel guilty.... hell yes, i was a dumb fuck back then.

In my town weed is the biggest gateway you really dont want to walk through but for you maybe shits different, kids there toke a joint and dont want to know what coke, speed or pills are like hopefully.

They call it weed for a reason. It will grow right by itself if you let it. I'm one of those Darwin growers. I have a few plants close by that I tend to, but many more deep in the woods that get very little attention. I've been out of the game for 11 years, and last year I grew just to make seed. Now I'm set for seed and plan to run about 70 plants. Digging holes and packing your stuff into the woods is work, but after that you can let nature take it's course. I will be doing more breeding, so I'll be checking on them when they start to flower. Pulling some males and using others for crosses.

That said, if my state does go Medical, I will have some huge ass girls in the back yard. But I still would do a few of my remote patches. The walking is good for your health.

And leave those seedlings alone. Water them once, wait a week, then transplant. If you did do that with a human baby they would lock your ass up. Do it with weed, and they will call you a grower.

The cost of seeds dont make it difficult. IMO we make it difficult for ourselves. But as experience grows so does confidence and success. The difficulty is getting your shit dialed in and learning how to "read" your plants. Of course having a green thumb doesnt hurt.

WOW! This is a crazy thread...2 very different topics but somehow it is all staying together. I would like to add my .02 on a couple of things...1st Gateway drug?? Total and complete BS. Right wing propaganda. For every one smack junkie there are 10,000 responsible adults that use cannabis either recreationally or medicinally. If it were the big bad gateway drug it is said to be why is less then 5% of the DEA's annual budget spent on anything other than cannabis eradication? @KINGROW..sorry about your friend but it is NOT your fault he is dead because you gave him his first hit of weed.

The simple historical fact is Harry Anslinger, William Randolph Hurst, and Dupont chemicals created cannabis prohibition. Anslinger had HUGE financial motivation from the other 2 and many others (Big Pharma, tobacco, alcohol etc not too mention being a major racist) William Randolph Hurst (Patty's Daddy) was a newspaper mogul with monstrous money tied into lumber production (i.e. paper, building materials etc.) the last thing he wanted was to see hemp stay legally mass produced. It takes 20-30 years to replenish a forest but hemp can renew 3 times in a year, so who needs trees for paper, right! Dupont Chemicals... Again, hemp can be eaten, worn, written on, used for fuel, textiles, rope, you name it. Most of these things were then and are now mass synthesized by chemical conglomerates...hemp would have it's hand in their pockets. We all are aware of how big pharma feels about cannabis as a medicine. Anyway, Anslinger (the U.S. 1st 'drug czar') W.R. Hurst and the several other corporate stooges that wanted to make and keep the world's most useful and misunderstood plant illegal and make people want it too stay illegal. why? CASH of course! So they put together all kinds of fear mongering campaigns aimed at the citizen's of a country that were battle weary from 2 world wars, the crop was ripe there...what better mode than to play on the fears of people who were suspicious and in some cases terrified of other races. They targeted Americas Youth creating more fear amongst the populous. They publicized 'facts' that young white women would have sex with multiple black men...that their children would murder them with axes, their kids would certainly go insane from 1 hit of the most 'notorious and menacing drug in history' BLAH BLAH BLAH. Ever see 'Reefer Madness'? That and several other anti-cannabis films were financed by Dupont chemicals.. There was a time in our country's history when if you owned a certain amount of farm land, it was actually illegal to NOT produce hemp! During the 2nd World War there was a "Hemp for Victory" campaign, talk about hypocrisy!

Anyway, CASH is the number 1 motivation in making and keeping the oldest and most widely used medicine in history, pre dating pharmacology, Illegal.

As for local authorities not being at fault for 'making the rules' they are meant to 'Serve and Protect' NOT to terrorize and incarcerate. The days of lost little kids eating ice cream while sitting on a cop's lap are OVER! Any idea how many cops are earning a living through playing both sides of America's unwinnable war on drugs? Privatized prisons have deals with State governments to keep their jails full. Are they filled with murderers, rapists, criminal psychopaths?..a few yes BUT most of the prison population in the U.S. (and btw we have more people in jail in the US than any other country in the world) are cannabis offenders. If you are looking for shear numbers...who else would you bust?

But all of this is academic and I am preaching to the choir. But, the tide is turning my friends! The antiquated ideas of the ignorant and duped politicians (who have also made BILLIONS from the war on drugs) are dying out. Soon there will be a shout of freedom the likes of which the world has never heard. "We are tired of having to fear growing a plant and we are NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!

Geeze who got me started?? LOL! Time to get off the soapbox...you may resume your regular viewing...

I don't know why this story isn't better known. It was all about making paper. But since I have most of my land in pine trees, I wouldn't mind if we wait until after I harvest before making hemp legal. We are talking about my retirement money after all.
