Avocado Plant

I sprouted this avocado seed and it's growing into a decent little plant, except for the fact that it's only growing leaves on the top and the rest is tall and bare. I need to repot this thing but am wondering about burying some of the stem to make it less lanky. I know that cannabis will grow new roots from the buried stem when you do this, but I don't know if avocados will do the same.

Has anyone ever done this with an avocado plant? It's taken quite a while to grow this big, and Ive become attached to the little bastard. I don't want to hurt it. I'm hoping someone here might have some knowledge to share with me about this.

Just a guess, but since it makes a tree, I would say don't bury more than a couple three inches. About to the bend there. With more light it might bush out more. Look really healthy though.

Lightly sand the stem which you intend the roots to appear from first, will speed things up considerably

give as much light as you can, and preferably cool white to prevent the ongoing stretch

Thought was my thought. Since it's a tree it's going to have a longer trunk. Looks healthy.

How did you sprout it? Ive got a bunch im trying to get to grow, most are just on the window sill with skewers thru poked in either side of the seed which rests in a cup of water.. Ive got another one I just directly planted.. No life yet tho.. Did you use lights?

I set them in my kitchen, a grow box, outside. I moved the cup around ever few weeks. It took twoish weeks to get the seed to begin to split and then another two or so to get a stem to sprout. I may have changed the water twice a week and sometimes every day. They didnt need any particularly special amount of light. The light in the kitchen was probably 2ft above. And when it was under an led it was somewhat shaded by othet tropical plants that wrre in for the winter.
