I posted that for the guys that think roots can't be stained from the nutrients there sitting in 24hrs a day.
Oh got ya. Mine would turn a light tan colour when I was running EWC tea. It's pretty easy to differentiate between staining and rotting though I think. I was under no illusions that mine were unhealthy, they clump lol.

Root rot smells and is slimy, but if you're a newer grower you might think you have problem when you don't. I never used teas in DWC but I gh micro will stain your roots.

You know I was thinking of a new method the other day

Take a very large res with a big airpump mix up your res just right, pipe the res to your root zone chamber via a huge pipe on the top of the res and have an outlet at the bottom of your rootzone tote

then add some wetting agent

you`d get big time soapy bubble going to the plant all day long and you could run that off or use it to water another plant or just recirculate it back to the tank

never seen anyone using bubbles like that but I know you can make the water foam in that way easy just pipe it to the roots and they should love it right ?

or did I forget something important was really baked when that idea came to me, just wanted a set up that has a res and a root zone separate but just uses an airpump and was not just gravity fed
So not sure I get the need for soap bubbles but kinda stoned too lol. My two tote setup that is basically an ebb and flo has a 395 GPH pump that pumps up to the root chamber and hits the lid creating a water fountain that is amazing and the plants love it. The only issue I have with all my setups is trying to keep roots out of drain. You can see how much agitation I get

Ya mine didn't smell really but no mistaking what was happening lol. I don't brew teas anymore either, it's a pain in the ass lol.

Jw wondering if this is root rot. I have some nutes that do make the roots a little brown but I'm starting to get worried.
You should be :(. Unless your really attached to that strain It may be better to start over, you've got a battle ahead of you, trust me lol. Get the water chilled to 65 somehow or your gonna lose the battle :(. Also buy some hydroguard to start, switch later if you want but it works! I spent 4 weeks fighting that shit and probably should have just started a new run but I wanted to keep the strain and the seeds are kinda pricey. I won but it was a long battle. I wasted time trying to use bleach, H2O2, and took time to build passive chiller. Two weeks from harvest now lol.

I just got finished an epic battle with the rot and tried bleach, H2O2, and pool shock. They all kind of helped but didn't cure it completely. I added a chiller to get temps down to 65-66 and started using hydroguard and now I have this 3 weeks after cut View attachment 3617554not saying you should use hydroguard but it works for my setup and I have just switched to OregonismXL to see if it works and it's cheaper :).
I have no clue what that pic is :(

Oh, well if you saw it on the internet it must be true.

That pic IS root rot, or the start of it anyway.

Good luck and dont believe everything you read on these sites.

Yes that is rot but I do believe the tea I brewed was turning my roots an off white. Still rot is pretty easy to spot I think. When roots clump I say dump lol

The need is that the roots would never sit in the res but you can circulate the bubbles with just an airpump and it can`t get blocked or gunked up or rot or anything as its just foam going down the pipe to the plant and the res is kept outside of the grow where it`d be cooler ?
