Hi All,

doing my first DWC. But one question regardig EC. My EC never goes down. Well it goes up due to plant drinking water, but after I fill up the EC is the same. They cant just live on water or is my res too big so I cant measure the ec go down?

3 AK48 in DWC 60L res. (15.8 USGallons) cange res. every 14 days.

I could be way out of my element, but the ec shouldn't go down. The plant takes up water with nutes. It's not like drain to waste where the ec is lower on run off. The ec would rise with evaporation.

If plants are drinking water i'd say you have it dialed in.

I personally like a drop. The problem with a continual rise is if you don't top off they will burn eventually.

I fill up and let it get to a gallon left and chuck it. Usually takes 3-4 days in flower to do that. Sometimes 2 days depending on environmental conditions.

Drinkin more water than nutes causes EC to rise. Hence too much nutes, altho if you top off with fresh/no nute water in turn diluting the water then it's not too bad.

Lower starting EC. Lower until plant is "eating" more than "drinking" (ph rises; EC drops). Then start raising it again until the water level drops and EC stays constant. You're plant is then "eating" and "drinking" the same amount.

If your EC is going up and PH is going down you need to lower your EC.
If your EC is going down and PH is going up you need to raise EC.

If your water levels drop and EC stays the same you've hit the sweet spot.

Many thanks for the info. I did lower the EC to 0.8 and the girls now driking equal amounts of Water and Nutes. What does it mean with waterlevel and EC stays the same, but PH is going down (from 6 to 5 in 24/h) Wrong nutes? Got for hard water. My water is between soft/hard.

What is your starting EC (tap water)?
What nutrients are you using and ratios?
How long are you waiting after adding ph down to get a read?

You need reverse osmosis water. Square your system up so your plants can get out of nutrient lock. Or something is wrong with your meter. Go on Amazon and buy some test solution. Have you done that yet?

No rot, the roots are white/creamy color, neutral smell. I did a res. change, lowered the nutes. ph@6 (test solution).my tap water is 0.2 EC. Took it real easy lowering the ph with ph down. Let the nute solution stabilize for 24h. Read something that PH down/up can fuck up the res. when using too mutch. This is my first hydro and I have learned alot like doing the noob mistake as I once did in soil LOL. High EC. I was reading about my strain (AK-48), and According to alot of reviews the AK sould be able to manage high EC. But the plant is a living thing so my batch of seed maby do not need so mutch nutes.

Despite the problems I got/had during this first hydro trial I got alot of fine colas. And clones are ready. :).

Follow my grow journal in my signature. I'm almost done with my first hydro. I'm not expert but my plants sure did get huge and look like they'll be pretty big buds.
