Gavita 1000e in a 5x5 tent

Looking for anyone that has used a gavita in a tent before and if you ran into any heat issues without AC in the room the tent was in. I do have sufficient intake/exhaust for my setup and am looking to upgrade the lighting in my flower tent. Any input is greatly appreciated.

My buddy runs a Gavita 1000e in his 5x5 Gorilla tent. He moves a literal shit ton of air to make it happen.

Also, work with the heat, and increase your RH up past 60%. He was able to maintain higher temps by keeping his RH up.... He pulls 2+lbs each run.

1kw gavita is a great match for a 5x5, and usually don't need AC with a one bulb setup. Get an exhaust of 1000-1200 m3/h, 1m3/h for every watt, roughy that's 600-650 cfm.

Depends on what you consider to be a normal hps. Relatively it puts out less heat (and more light) than many other hps setups. People who experience heat problems with gavitas typically don't have a proper matched exhaust.

I have a 435CFM inline that exhausts my 4x4 and 5x5 tents currently. I'm most worried about the space the 1000e needs above and below it (at least according to Gavita's site). As they recommend 3 feet above AND below the fixture for the 1000e which doesn't leave me much room in a 6 and 2/3 foot tent and I don't want to fry my girls. I did look into those AC/DE reflectors and just getting a better ballast and a philips bulb, but that actually costs quite a bit more than just the 1000e. Thanks for the input.

Thousands of growers in NL use gavitas and most don't have that distance even between the plants and light. 5x5 tent + 1k gavita + exhaust and clip fans and carbon filter was sold here for years by some of the largest growshops in europe. They called it, translated, the kilo boomer. Those tents are almost 7 feet tall, plants including pots of 3-4 feet...

Google 'kilo knaller puk' and check the images results for many examples.

I guess it wasn't from the Gavita site like I had thought (too many tabs open looking up info on them). But here is the link I found that stated that, suppose it could be bogus info. http://waytogrow.net/gavita-pro-e-series/ Either way I think I would need to upgrade my exhaust to be able to handle it. I yielded just shy of 1.5lbs my first run(http://rollitup.org/t/my-first-grow.869931/page-3), so I think I will just roll with what I have and look into upgrading next go around when I can afford to upgrade my ventilation as well. Put a gavita on the 1000 watt setting less than 3 ft from your plants and I guarantee you will bleach the hella out of them. You need a minimum of 3 feet easy.

The most common used distance, boosted, is 75 cm-90cm about 2.5' - 3'. For many years... by many many growers including one who worked on the design at gavita and others who tested the hell out of it. How many examples would you like to see...

I have a nice sized basement room with 6.5 feet from floor to ceiling. I run 8 gavita 6/750 watt lamps and for 6 or 7 feet these are damn near perfect. Ive never ran the 1000 watt gavitas. Ibe seen them in other rooms though. They are extremely bright compared to single ended 1000 watters.

Kind of another reason why I want to wait until I can do it properly. I'm still a new grower but I started with 1k Hortilux's so obviously I'm not out to waste my time or anyone elses. Going to go one more harvest on the Hortilux and then look into upgrading ventilation and getting the 1k gavita.

That's such a weird combo in thought though, adding heat and humidity at the same time.
Sounds like a good environment for mold lol. No idea because I haven't messed with experimenting with temp:humidity ratios as my system runs fine without changing anything, it just sounds funny lol.

Search for VPD

Keeping my temps from 70-75 and increasing RH from 50s to 60s increased my growth rate. I had it up to the 70%s and they were beastly, but I couldn't keep up anymore, lol!

Just move enough air, to offset mold conditions.

Manipulating the VPD can affect their metabolism.

Right, when the plants bleach and get stressed or whatever 2.5-3' under the light it's not the light that is the problem but other factors not being in balance. If for whatever reason there is a transpiration problem (far off ideal vpd, too small pot for the plant, overfeeding, or simply not keeping up with watering, etc), i.e. a grower error, the grower will be punished harder than if it were under less high intensity light and heat. It's often wise to raise the light when problems occur, but only temporarily to fix the real problem.

If you raise it to 3feet+ the footprint widens, more wall reflection loss, and less deep penetration. 75-90cm (in 5x5') allows for rockhard nuggets from top to bottom even with stretchy tall sativas.

And really, that's not even pushing it... 1k gavita on 4x4, that is pushing it. Specifically in a 4x4x7 tent, a popular one is called a DR120. Google "dr120 gavita 1000 wietforum"... Often still a kilo aka 1gpw. One of the best growers in dutch forums used 4x1K gavita on 8x8x7.

The main "trick" to do that is above all a good exhaust (up to almost 900cfm for 1K on 4x4 or 5x5). Carbon filter of 1200-1500cfm. Often but not always combined with an active intake of roughly 1/2-2/3 of the exhaust or filter.

Correct vpd numbers with high temps and co2 makes plants explode. You have to be on it though. One thing gets out of whack and the plants can crash hard and fast. But if you can keep them riding that wave all the way its unreal. Huge harveys of potent buds.

I wouldnt even consider running multiple Gavitas or any other double ended hps lamps without air conditioning. No way. Where theg really shine is in sealed rooms with mini splits and industrial quality dehumidifiers with co2 in the air.
