Canna coco

I'm guessing they grow in slabs because they cram 60 plants into the same area I grow 8. And the only thing I can find on cannas site about pot size is, water more frequently if you use smaller pots. Imho if your medium is full of beautiful white roots, and your plants are showing no sign of stress, then more is for once better.

This^^^^ 1 gallon pots crammed together for 24" or less sized plants with one or two at the most main branches. 2 and 3 gallon pots of coir is plenty for 3 or 4 foot bushes. At least this is what ive found out. More than 5 is too much coir medium for most peoples indoor grows. This is entirely strain specific though. Plants in root pruning pots full of coir dont seem to get root bound and with smaller pots (compared to the size you would use for soil or peat base mix grows) they seem to thrive with mulitiple daily feeds with 10 to 20% runoff each time. They just take right off with this method of hydroponic cultivation.

Coco coir is much more similar to rockwool slab drip to waste systems than soil or peat mixes. I use to use r wool slabs back in the day and 3 or 4 plants in 4" blocks set upon meter long slabs .....i could get some really nice plants. And the slab was FILLED with roots. Never root bound.

I'm going to water this round by hand. The way my room, and water supply is set up, it isn't to bad. I'll be growing in 15 gallon smart pots with drain to waist. Ill be running 2k watts covering a 4x8 scrog. The whole set up is what I'm using to grow in soil right now. I'm switching to coco to speed up my cycle and increase my yeilds. I grew in coco years back and did all right, but getting back into it, I'm seeing things have changed. Hoping to brush up on here rather then in the room!
15 gal pots u nust be growing trees,i find 3-5 pretty good for indoor run

Im going to use 15 gallon Smart Pots this run myself, I grow in ProMix and last run I used 10 gallon smart pots and they use that space like it was nothing. Details: Two 600's from seed 60 days veg time 70 days flowering. Edit* five plants in total 5x5x7 tent

Two reasons for 15 gallon. First I'm not going to be able to set up my drip system until next round, and I can't water every day, so bigger pots, longer between watering. Second, they do have to fill a large area, so I have to grow them as big as I can. I'll see how this run goes, and adjust next run when I install my drip system.

Nice! I can only go by my experiences, but from what I've seen, when I use big pots in any medium I have a lot less headaches with nutrient deficiencies and whatnot. I use smaller pots and I'm always fighting ph, nutrient, water issues.

So here it is. 8 querkle transplanted from rooted clone to 15 gallon smartpots with 40 liters of canna coco on Feb 13th. In 13 days there are root tips showing on the sides half way up or better, all the way down to the bottoms. The growth is insane. From day one of transplant they grew, and haven't stopped even through a 3 day nitrogen deficiency. The pics are day one, and day 13. It would have taken 12 querkle, in soil, with the same size screen, three to four weeks to match this growth. This pheno of querkle almost trippled during the 2 week flower stretch, so I will be flowering at this time next week. That will be almost a full two weeks faster for 8 plants to do what 12 plants did in soil. From my past 10 querkle soil grows, these plants in this system are going to more the quadruple my past grows. Canna is the shit, and massive rootballs mean massive gains. Enough said.

Coco coir is amazing isnt it? I like watching new transplants in root pots of coir take off. Root growth is really a thing to check out in coco coir. Love that shit.

I grew in shit coco many years ago, and was so frustrated by it I quit. Apperantly a lot has changed over the years! This stuff is pretty much idiot proof if you just fallow the manufactures recommendations. I'm running a side by side test, botanicare coir, and canna coir. So far they are preforming the same. I had to use bricks because of shipping costs, and did nothing but expand them with ph'ed water. The canna was much easier to work with and surprisingly expanded to fill the same volume as the botanicare even though the botanicare claims 65 to 70 liters fully expanded, and canna only claims 40 liters. I soaked and loaded the pots the same. Very loose filled with no packing at all. I can only assume one thing from this, canna has 25 liters more air retention then the botanicare. And the roots are showing the difference. The 7 canna pots got roots everywhere, twice as many tips poking out of the bag compared to botanicare. The growth so far is very close to the same. I'm only thirteen days into my switch back to coco, and I already know coco is around to stay this time lol

The coir on the market just a decade ago was horrible in quality and consistency. That shit definitely needed rinsing. We have come a long way since then. I have been using the Canna Brick coir lately and it is very good quality. Jist as good as the loose stuff but much cheaper. I used the Ready gro Moisture from Botanicare for years until recently. No more perlite....ive noticed no difference. Canna brick expands rite in the bag with the hole in the brick so easily and fast. My cousin expands one bag and just punches holes in the bottom for drainage and grows trees rite in the bag. Good shit. So much easier to go to the shop and grab a few bricks than lugging 5 or 10 bags of the stuff out to the car. And its like 12 bucks for 40 liters (about 10 gallons). It adds up when u buy a shit load of it.
