these babies are a few days away from a month old and have alright root systems, I was just wondering if any experienced member can tell me how they look? I topped them at the 4th node and they are kept on 18-6 under a 400w MH light at 25" away. This is my first real attempt at growing,
Thanks..

I am guessing you know they have good root systems because you see roots at the bottom of the containers...Time too transplant my friend. Also after transplant that may IMHO be too many plants for a 400w to handle. When they get to bigger pots they will require a bigger foot print to maximize yield.

But, they look great at this point.

Good Luck and Great Growing

I have seen the bottom of the containers and the roots look plentiful in most (some more than others) but also some of the roots are tinted brown in some. I plan on going to my local grown store in the next couple days to get some Pro Mix to transplant them with and some fox farm nutes. I do not have a Ph tester which I know is not a good thing, and have been feeding low amounts of nutes because some showed signs of nitrogen and magnesium deficiencies. (Yellow leaves, and purplish leaf stems. Will this affect the overall yield/outcome of these?

And how many plants could I comfortably fit under my 400w light? So when I find how many are female I can decide if I'm getting another light or not. Thanks everyone and sorry for my noobyness lol

Looks good, brother. But get some dolomite lime and mix into your new soil before transplanting. If it's the powder, mix about two tablespoons per gallon; if the pelleted dolomite lime is all they have, mix about three tablespoons per gallon. Don't buy hydrated lime.

The lime will prevent cal-mag deficiencies and keep your PH within range, allowing for healthy plants that can take a large amount of feeding.

Thanks I'll be sure to get some of that dolomite lime. It's good to hear that they look good, I spend a lot of time making sure they are doing alright and what not. Thanks for the info, legalizenature420

I would agree, they look very nice.. i have no experiance with a 400w so im not sure how many u can comfortably fit, really depends on how long ur gna veg, i only rock at most 6 under a 1000 really only 4 most times... but i veg and top em into big ol bushes

People may disagree but if ur transplanting soon id hold off on any nuts for a bit, i think u said fox farm, but its already got a lot of the stuff u need so i usualy hold off for the first two weeks of veg and just rock plain water

The tinted brown roots im not sure about, it doesnt look like ur soil has any perlite in it so that could be from suffacation especialy if all the brown roots are at the very bottom and its not draining 100, not to sure tho

All in all lookn good tho, something else i would say is that i personaly dont like to keep any of my nutes in the same room as the flower, over time the bottle gets some build up all over it and may get some drippi.g down the side and that can start to attract bugs, from what i hear, but aslong as u keep them good and clean, whipe up any spills everythi.g should continue to go well .. just my two centa

Sorry to be a pain n all guys, it's just this chat is the most recently active. I'm growing an autoflowering strain atm that's only 3 days from germ, I cracked it to almost nothing with my teeth and placed it in my medium, thinking it was dead I left it for a day and come back to see a small white stem with the tiniest green leaf at the tip, currently it's slightly bigger and another leaf has grown adjacent to it. It's under a 30watt lamp with a medium-light perlite soul. Opinions? And any tips would be a godsend! Thanks guys

The tinted brown roots are mostly at the bottom of the affected ones I saw.. may very be because of suffocation, I have slits in the bottom for drainage but if I had to guess I'd say it may be from oxygen deprivation or something? Should I make slits in the sides of the cups for the rest of their life in the solo cups? They will start week 2 of veg in a couple days so I'll give normal water. Is there a way to get back the Whiteness of the roots or are they permanently dis colored? I will add perlite to the "to get list" so I can keep them from getting worse. I'll be transplanting within a week. Would it be recommended to add pics of the roots so someone can diagnose any visible problems? I have topped about 4-5 days ago, they aren't growing as fast as is like them too, I'm worrying they will take much longer to veg then I'm expecting. Giving that these are about a month old, and will spend another 4 weeks in veg, and 6 in flower, can I expect to harvest around April 25th? Or is that a under estimate ?

You need to transplant them and in doing that you wont need nutes again for a while as whatever soil you use will have nutes.

A 400w will work, but its not optimal for 12 plants.

Hope you have room to flower 12 plants. That's quite alot. I did 9 once in my 4x4 and it was way to pack

Alright how many plants do you think would grow good under 400w? I have about a 6x6 space. And I don't plan on going through the whole flower cycle with 12 as some will be male. I just hope I have enough females to get enough meds and few enough to fit in my room efficiently. Will transplant soon to 3 gallon pots and then will update everyone as to how they take to the move.

With fox farm, only half of the time i add the perlite so u may be able to get away with skipping that when u transplant, i know i just switched to smart pots and thoes supposivly help get oxygen to the roots, i dont think u can really reverse any root damage but as i understand it, its like the top half, meaning the roots in other places will just grow more so i wouldnt worry

Adding some microbes will help out a ton something like voodoo juice or great white .. really helps the roots and will stop the lag time a little, so after u transplant give it some of that, i know after u transplant ur plant wont grow much because its mainly focusing on its roots at that point so giving it the microbes makes the roots blow up real quick and in return the plant can start growing its top half more

Topping does always set it back a little so thats normal to see slow growth after u top, also for the future i try not to top untill after they have been sexed, any stress will make them lean more twords being male but no worries.

I wouldnt put more holes in the cup, id just transplant em very soon give em some.microbes and they will be blowing up in about a week after all that, id def give them more time in flower i give eight week plants about 9 ....

Ithink ur date, april 25th is def do able, thad give u about three more weeks of veg, but the dry and cure takes about two weeks so keep that in mind

I have heard of microbes. I will be sure to look for them when I go shopping next, it sounds like something I'd be into; having them grow faster after transplanting lol.
I topped them after the 4th nose and about a week later now, 2 of them have shown sex to be female during 18/6. They will be transplanted Sunday (the latest possible seeming as they been in solo cups for a month and roots are gathering at the bottom so I guess I should transplant before they get root bound which I really don't want.
But thanks for the tips. I will be transplanting to 3gal buckets with pro mix, and microbes seeming that's what is gunna cut some waiting time down. I'll Be posting pics here when I get them transplanted to show how it went. Thanks

Nice cant wait to see, i used to use voodoo juice, pirana, and terantula (advansed nute company) suuper expencive, i switched to great white, its a powder and thats about the only difference ive noticed lol i run soil so i mend a little in the soil and water, cant say ive noticed a difference since the switch except im 200 bucks ritcher ... in flower i add some to the water but in veg i mend it in with the soil mix in all the other good stuff i add and just straight water

Nice, I'll follow what you said, I'll look for the great white seeming I'm kind of on a budget. So if I mend the great white into the soil are you saying that in veg after I transplant and add the microbes/great white to the mix, I just use normal water ? And then in flower I mix some in with the water? And can I still use half the strength of what the fox farm nutes call for with the use of the great white? Even though I won't add nutes for a couple weeks after I transplant

Yezsir, or if u want instead of mixing it in the soil before transpant, u can just add it to the water when u water them ... i mix it in the soil because i mix a bunch of other stuff in, i think if u just transpanted in some plain fox farm soil and then added it to the water ud be able to get a better recomended amount .. from what ive noticed i dont think u can really over do it and harm the plant at all, i think it may just be waistfull after a certant point. ... hopefully i make sence lol

Yea I get what you're saying, haha. I changed my mind from getting pro mix to getting fox farm ocean breeze and I'm going to mix a little in the soil. Do I pour the stuff around the hole I'll be transplanting into? Or just mix around evenly in the whole soil that's in the pot? And if instead I put it in the water, will I need to ph it?
